Sara Haines Attacks New Press Secretary Zacharia Because She’s Pretty

On Wednesday, 24 hours after having a fit over comedian Shane Gillis’s SNL joke about whorish gym attire, ABC’s Sara Haines attacked newly minted White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia for being pretty. The jealously from the aging co-host of The View was evident in a snarky allusion to know how Zacharia “got through the door” to get the job.

In a best-case scenario, it was a comment about her only getting hired for her looks. In a worst-case scenario, it was a comment designed to invoke the thought of a sexual favor being exchanged.

The first to take a swing at the Zacharia piñata was faux conservative co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who admitted she was passed over for the position in the first Trump administration. “I don't know how this gal is going to last,” she chided, despite the fact she herself bounced around from press shop to press shop.

“Who is she? Tell us who she is,” an uninformed Whoopi Goldberg, the show’s moderator, begged Farah Griffin. “She’s a Pepperdine Law grad, she’d been like a Fox News contributor and kind of talking head. She very, very briefly worked at the Department of Homeland Security,” she explained.

But, after comparing Zacharia’s pedigree to that of former press secretary Karoline Leavitt, Farah Griffin decried, “I don't know how this gal got through the door.”

“I can tell you how she got through the door!” shouted Haines in reaction. The crowd and table burst out laughing.

What ensued was a pandemonium of Goldberg and other co-hosts desperately trying to get Haines to not take the comment further, with a very blatant understanding between them of where Haines wanted to take it:

GOLDBERG: Stop it.

HAINES: You can -

GOLDBERG: Stop it. Don't even think about it. Don't even think about it.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Whoa. Whoa.

GOLDBERG: Don’t do it.

HOSTIN: Whoa.

HAINES: Okay then, I’ll - So, I can -

GOLDBERG: New direction.

HOSTIN: Pivot. Pivot.

HAINES: So I can relate to --

GOLDBERG: No. No. That’s not going to work either.

HAINES: Not that part. Not that part. No. No.

GOLDBERG: Oh my God.

It could be as simple as Haines attempting to claim Zacharia only got the job because of her looks. But they did that back in January 2025 when Leavitt took over, and there was not the same explosive response.

“And by the way, she's been probably put in the - because according to Donald Trump she's a 10. You know that's what it is,” shouted Joy Behar, 82 at the time.

Given the lack of an outburst the last time the looks of a new press secretary were attack by The View, there’s a good chance that Haines was trying to allude that a sexual favor was exchanged for the job. They’ve pushed a similar conspiracy theory just last month, suggesting President Trump was having an affair with his assistant Natalie Harp.

If that was what Haines was going for, her comment came 24-hours after she suggested jokes about “whores” caused rapes. So, was her joke causing rapes too?

If that wasn’t hypocritical enough, later in the show, they brought on comedian D.L. Hughley and laughed along as he degraded Zacharia as “this broad right here.”

So much for supporting all women. Hypocrites.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: I don't know how this gal is going to last.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Who is she? Tell us who she is.

FARAH GRIFFIN: She’s a Pepperdine Law grad, she’d been like a Fox News contributor and kind of talking head. She very, very briefly worked at the Department of Homeland Security. But like, comparing her even to Karoline Leavitt, who is the youngest in that role, she still commanded the podium. I'm not speaking to what the substance of what she said is -

GOLDBERG: Right. Right.

FARAH GRIFFIN: - but there was a confidence there, there was a command of the room, and she did have experience. She’d worked in the previous White House, she’d been a senior aide on Capitol Hill, she’d run for Congress.

I don't know how this gal got through the door. You can find a lot of people who are prepared to do this. It’s much harder than cable news.

SARA HAINES: I can tell you how she got through the door!

[Laughter]

GOLDBERG: Stop it.

HAINES: You can -

GOLDBERG: Stop it. Don't even think about it. Don't even think about it.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Whoa. Whoa.

GOLDBERG: Don’t do it.

HOSTIN: Whoa.

HAINES: Okay then, I’ll - So, I can -

GOLDBERG: New direction.

HAINES: So I can relate to --

GOLDBERG: No. No. That’s not going to work either.

HAINES: Not that part. Not that part. No. No.

GOLDBERG: Oh my God.

HAINES: I can relate to getting nervous and having stress. I talk on live TV, I know when the brain stops working with the mouth and we just lose our point. I do understand that. But, it was only 14 minutes long. I have spent longer telling my kids we're leaving the house than that brief briefing.

D.L. HUGHLEY: And how about the press secretary?

ANA NAVARRO: How about her?

HUGHLEY: How about her? And all the black women got fired and they kept this broad right here?

NAVARRO: Let’s talk about DEI.

HUGHLEY: Yeah. Yeah. And you know GCI is, that’s greedy corrupt incompetent white people. That’s crazy man.
