CNN contributor Shermichael Singleton has daily or nightly adventures sparring with liberals on CNN (including the liberal hosts at times). We awarded him our MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Achievement Behind Enemy Lines, and he came into our studio in lovely Herndon, Virginia to discuss cable-pundit battles and the expectation that blacks must always stay "with their own kind" on the Left.
MRC President David Bozell was on hand to give Singleton his Award, and NewsBusters Associate Editor Nick Fondacaro joined as well. The first question for a conservative appearing regularly on CNN is: How do you keep your cool? In moments where people can't stand a reference to "boys in girls' sports," for example.
Over the weekend, Singleton attempted to resist the "blame game" as the Democrat starts trying to argue that political violence is mostly a "far right" problem. This topic suggests cooler heads insisting we should first oppose all political violence. We should add that conservatives who are tough on crime should argue that the blame for the shooter begins with the shooter, and not the social-media accounts or talk-show hosts that the shooter likes.
Since Singleton's "We The Free" streaming channel is "built for gun owners," we had a discussion about new gun restrictions imposed by "moderate" Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger in Virginia, and about President Trump's new ATF leader Robert Cekada, who Singleton likes as a "gun guy." Some of us had to ask: What precisely is a "gun guy"? If you have to ask, you must not be one...
