Videos of Swalwell's Ironic, Hypocritical Past Comments Flood Social Media

UPDATE: On Monday, Eric Swalwell announced that he plans to resign from Congress.

California Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell’s latest scandal has social media being flooded with flashback videos of the congressman’s past comments on the type of crimes he’s now being accused of committing.

The congressman’s first brush with serious public scandal was in 2020 when Axios broke the news of his past close relationship with a Chinese intelligence operative, prompting suspicions he had slept with a spy.

On Friday, The San Francisco Chronicle reported allegations by one of Swalwell’s former staffers that he had twice sexually assaulted her while she worked for him. The House Ethics Committee has launched an investigation into the allegations and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is investigating whether Swalwell sexually assaulted a former staffer at a hotel in New York City two years ago and called on other possible victims to contact his office.

Then, on Sunday, Fox News reported that Swalwell is under investigation regarding a complaint filed with federal authorities accusing the Democrat of knowingly employing an illegal alien as a nanny, lying about her immigration status and paying her under the table using campaign funds.

With news of the scandals spreading, video clips of Swalwell’s ironic, and seemingly hypocritical, past comments on crime and sexual assault allegations are going viral on social media.

In January, for example, Swalwell claimed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were terrorizing women and should have their right to drive revoked.

In 2025, Swalwell said prosecutors should “focus on” and “throw the book at” those who commit sexual crimes.

In November, Rep. Swalwell warned the Justice Department and President Trump that, when Democrats control Congress, they’ll use subpoena power to ensure “the truth’s going to come out” about them – but, just last month, Swalwell’s lawyers threatened the FBI with legal action if it lets the truth to come out about his past relationship with the suspected Chinese spy.

On Friday, California Post Senior Political Reporter Josh Koehn posted video in which he asked Swalwell if he had ever had sexual relationships with any staff or interns – to which the congressman answered “No, no, no, no.” “A bombshell report by the San Francisco Chronicle is now contradicting his claims,” Koehn notes in his post.

As calls for his resignation from Congress continue to grow, Swalwell has announced that he has suspended his campaign to become governor of California.
