“Give me a break!” Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Lauren Bis tells CNN, after the network referred to two illegal aliens shot and arrested in Portland, Oregon as a “married couple,” rather than as suspected Tren De Aragua gang members.
“I’m here to set the record straight on false reporting surrounding our brave law enforcement,” DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis says in her latest video on the department’s X.com page.
“Defend the Homeland. Protect the American way of life. The nonstop lies and smears from the FAKE NEWS are meant to tear down our brave men and women who protect our homeland every day,” the post says introducing the video.
First, Bis addresses the media smears against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer who shot and killed a protester driving toward him last Wednesday in Minneapolis:
“Here’s what really happened:
“ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers, and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them.
“An ICE officer fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.”
Bis then calls out CNN for framing the two Portland suspects as an innocent “married couple”:
“On Thursday, there was another vehicle attack on law enforcement officers in Portland as they were attempting to arrest an affiliate and suspected member of Tren De Aragua. One of these illegal aliens played an active role in Tren De Aragua prostitution ring and was involved in a prior shooting in Portland.
“How does CNN choose to portray theses suspected gang members: [As] an innocent married couple shot by Border Patrol. Give me a break!”
“These two suspected Tren De Aragua gang associates were let loose on America’s streets by Joe Biden and weaponized their vehicle against Border Patrol in Portland,” Bis notes, indicting the inflammatory, demonizing rhetoric of pro-illegal alien politicians:
“The attacks are the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement.”
The number of attacks against “these men and women, who are simply enforcing a law on the books” has skyrocketed, Bis explained:
- 1,300% increase in assaults against them.
- 3,200% increase in vehicle attacks.
- 8,000% increase in death threats.
“REVOLTING LIES!” DHS declares in a separate post, providing details of the incident and embedding video of a CNN reporter’s characterization of it:
“The two criminal illegal aliens who attacked Border Patrol in Portland are a gang member and his prostitute NOT an innocent ‘married couple.’
“The driver of the vehicle, Luis David Nico Moncada is a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and suspected Tren de Aragua GANG MEMBER. He illegally entered the U.S. in 2022 and was RELEASED into the country by the Biden administration. Since then, he was arrested for DUI and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He has a final order of removal.
“The passenger, Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras is a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and is associated with Tren de Aragua. She illegally entered the U.S. in 2023 near El Paso, Texas, and was RELEASED into this country by the Biden administration. Since illegally entering, Contreras played an active role in a Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and was involved with a prior shooting in Portland.”
Indeed, the CNN reporter twice describes the two suspects as simply a “married couple” and makes no mention of their illegal alien status:
“And, now tensions are flaring even higher in Portland, Oregon after Border Patrol agents shot a married couple there.”
….
“According DHS now, the border agents there were conducting a ‘targeted vehicle stop’ of this married couple”…
