It turns out that there is a group of migrants seeking asylum that will make the left and their enablers in the media say “enough is enough.” That, of course, being the 59 South Africans that made it to the United States today.
MSNBC’s The Weeknight exemplifies the hysterical coverage given to this grant of asylum status. Here is the three minutes’ hate, as aired in its entirety:
MSNBC THE WEEKNIGHT
5/12/25
7:52 PM
ALICIA MENENDEZ: A very warm welcome from the Trump administration today for a group of white South Africans who arrived at Dulles Airport. The 59 Afrikaners who were descendants of Dutch colonialists have been granted refugee status, thanks to Donald Trump's executive order that expedited their resettlement. Their arrival comes after the Trump administration shut down refugee admissions from nearly every other country, including Afghanistan, Sudan, the Republic of Congo.
MICHAEL STEELE: They claim these- these poor refugees were being threatened by hostile forces.
SYMONE SANDERS-TOWNSEND: Which ones? Name ‘em.
STEELE: I- I- You know, let me check. I think it's in the paperwork somewhere.
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: Mmmmm. Mmmmm. You know-
STEELE: You know.
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: …this is a result of misinformation and Elon Musk…
STEELE: Uh-huh. There you go.
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: …who is of South African descent, by the way. And that matters. You know, just how, like, when you know someone robs something and they happen to be from one part of town and they're like, “oh, well, they're from so-and-so.” Elon Musk is from South Africa. I'm not saying he's an Afrikaner, but I am saying he's from South Africa, was advocating for the Afrikaners. And on social media, on his website, probably to the President of the United States. We do not know that for sure, but one can only connect the dots from this policy to the things that Elon Musk has tweeted and said out of his own mouth. This is just despicable.
MENENDEZ: And to take it out of the realm of politics, perhaps people would be interested in what the Episcopal Church is doing. The Episcopal Church that for 40 years has worked hard to resettle refugees. They say they will not be resettling the white Afrikaners, “in light of our church's steadfast commitment to racial justice and reconciliation and our historic ties with the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, we are not able to take this step.”
STEELE: And at the same time, Donald Trump sort of, you know, says, “well, that protection for those Afghans out there. Mmmmmm…those refugees.”
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: The ones that helped us.
STEELE: The ones that helped us, those refugees. Well, the Trump administration on Monday formally lifted a shield on deportation of Afghans in the U.S., arguing improving conditions in the Taliban-run country mean its U.S.-based citizens no longer merit such protections. Okay, so you've got that. That's fine. But then in other spaces, I mean, here's the thing.
MENENDEZ: Which part is fine?
STEELE: Pardon me?
MENENDEZ: Which part is fine?
STEELE: I mean-
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: Afghans stood with us.
STEELE: They stood with us. Right.
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: In- in the war.
STEELE: And so- so in their view that- okay, what they're doing is fine. In their view it's fine. And so my question is when you're looking at the when you're looking at the U.S. and how we embrace the world, what- what are we saying here? That to your point, you got a little backroom door with- with Elon Musk whispering in the president's ear to help Afrikaners. Right? I want to know, why doesn't that extend to everybody else? Why- why are they- the Afrikaners, less of a threat than the Afghans?
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: Oh, I know why. Remember Donald Trump said he wanted the good immigration. He wanted the good immigrants, you know, from the good white countries. And apparently these- these are just things the president has said. People can look it up. He wanted the good immigrants and immigrants, the people that could really do something for the country, not like those bad immigrants from these other places. He wants the good immigrants. And, apparently, that’s what we’re getting with the Afrikaners, folks.
STEELE: We are.
The Weeknight, of course, is the replacement for Joy Reid in the 7PM hour. And this segment was so cringe that it actually made us MISS Reid, albeit for a fleeting moment. Reid’s racial diatribe on the grant of refugee status to these 59 would’ve been interesting. Predictable, perhaps, but interesting.
This wasn’t the case here. We got three minutes of barely-strung-together ramblings bordering on incoherent. There was no discussion of the merits of the request, or of the underlying events that led to these Afirkaners seeking asylum.
There was no mention of laws allowing the government to seize Afrikaner farms without compensation, or of the “kill the Boer, kill the farmer” chants led by Economic Freedom Fighters Party head Julius Malema:
Nothing has changed in South Africa…

There was no indignation or outcry from the media when the previous administration allowed over 20 million illegal migrants to flood into the United States. But allow 59 South Africans into the country and everyone loses their minds.
Especially on MSNBC.
