Scarborough Compares Trump Administration to Nazis, North Korea

June 14th, 2018 2:55 PM

On Thursday, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough took to the airwaves to repeat the claim from Boston Globe reporter Liz Goodwin that "children are being told and their parents are being told that they're being taken off to the showers. And that they'll return. And they never return."

In fact, Scarborough went as far as alluding that the terrible crimes committed in Nazi Germany were comparable to the border enforcement. "You know, I don't have to compare that to previous regimes in other horrific countries. That -- that conclusion actually is too obvious. This is Donald Trump's America. And yes, it sounds like something we would be condemning, coming out of North Korea."

Carelessly discarding facts in order to fear monger and compare the Trump administration enforcing border law to the crimes against humanity that were committed during the Holocaust significantly downplays the horrors that happened during the 20th century.

JOE SCARBOROUGH:  "What's going on right now at the border is un-American, I will tell you a lot of Catholics, leaders have come out and said, it is un-Christ-like."

...

SCARBOROUGH: Public defenders, in the federal courts down there in McAllen, Texas reporting that children are being told and their parents are being told that they're being taken off to the showers. And that they'll return. And they never return. You know, I don't have to compare that to previous regimes in other horrific countries. That -- that conclusion actually is too obvious. This is Donald Trump's America. And yes, it sounds like something we would be condemning, coming out of North Korea.

...

SCARBOROUGH: That's our America, Mika. And sadly, that's our Republican party. And that is the problem today.
