The “fact checkers” at PolitiFact barely touch the talking heads on cable television anymore. They used to have a serious tilt against the Fox News hosts in prime time. PolitiFact exists to defend Democrats against Republican attacks. In 2020, they threw their "Pants On Fire" label at Sen. David Perdue for describing his opponent Jon Ossoff as a "socialist." So it's unsurprising that PolitiFact would object to Donald Trump and other conservatives online for mocking New York's new Democrat nominee for mayor, Zohran Mamdani, as a "communist."

The “No Kings” rally against President Trump on June 14 featured several angry speeches from Democrats. Mediaite had this story: “Eric Swalwell ‘Trump Is America’s Hitler’ Remark at Rally Sparks Viral Outrage.” That gaseous D.C. speech was easily ignored by PolitiFact and those “independent fact-checkers.”

One easy test of whether a media outlet is truly "fact-based" is the claims and lingo of transgender advocates. That goes double for "independent fact-checkers." If you call hormone blockers or amputation surgeries "gender-affirming care," then you are using the fact-mangling rhetoric of activists, not caring for facts.
