While the early Wednesday morning portion of MSNBC’s Democratic National Convention (DNC) coverage wasn’t quite the spectacle it was from the day before, AM Joy host Joy Reid provided two noteworthy instances denouncing Hillary Clinton critics as sexist who complain about her not wearing skirts and predicted that she’s “going to teach us” a lesson about sexism by the end of the election. 

Right on cue, Tuesday night’s MSNBC coverage of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) heaped effusive praise on a team of Black Lives Matter mothers whose sons died in police-involved shootings as a “profound experience” for those in attendance just eight days after they trashed Patricia Smith over a speech about her son’s death in the 2012 Benghazi terror attack.

If MSNBC journalists last week saw “bloodthirsty” Republican delegates ready to “kill” at the GOP convention, they imagine nothing but love at Hillary Clinton’s crowning. As the media swooned over First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech to the Democratic National Convention Monday night and applauded her defense of America’s “greatness,” journalists seemed to suffer from collective amnesia as they forgot Mrs. Obama’s controversial revelation that she was “proud” of the country for the “first time” during her husband’s 2008 presidential run.

Each night of the Republican National Convention (RNC) and presumably for this week’s Democratic National Convention (DNC), MSNBC has and will continue to offer live coverage through 2:00 a.m. Eastern time and in the final two hours, some strange and wacky moments came about for those of us watching at NewsBusters. 

The “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC were hard pressed for time on Monday night to comment on speeches at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) by Senators Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (Vt.), but there was time after First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech to gush over her “artfully painted” address featuring “trademark...grace” in attacking Donald Trump.

Chris Matthews on Monday could barely restrain his excitement at the Democratic National Convention, declaring it a “sluggers row of wonderful sentiment.” Who did the MSNBC host love more? He could barely decide. Matthews cheered, “I think the Democrats's first night may turn out to be more successful than the Republicans's last night. I thought it had a lot of charm and happiness.” 

Sarah Silverman may be a comic known for using the words “fag,” “retarded” and calling Jesus fictional, but the journalists at MSNBC were absolutely entranced over her speech on Monday to the Democratic Convention. At one point, Silverman admonished the Bernie Sanders crowd for being reluctant to support Hillary Clinton: “Can I just say to the Bernie or bust people, you're being ridiculous.” 

In the short time between speeches during Monday’s primetime schedule of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), CNN and MSNBC went out of their way to absolutely swoon over Senator Cory Booker’s speech that they deemed “brilliant,” “a home run,” and “powerful” that the assembled pundits claim they hadn’t seen since then-Illinois State Senator Barack Obama at the 2004 DNC.
