On Saturday's AM Joy on MSNBC, during a discussion of the Tea Party movement's origin and evolution, Washington Post columnist and MSNBC contributor Jennifer Rubin charged that the movement is "angry about race" because President Donald Trump gave them permission to be, and ended up calling the GOP a "wackadoodle party." Host Joy Reid oddly continued to identify Rubin as "conservative" in spite…

Hardball Panel Downplays Good News on the Economy, Predicts Recession

July 28th, 2018 2:54 PM
As soon as the second quarter GDP growth of 4.1 percent became public, the media did their best to downplay the good news and refrain from giving President Trump and his policies credit for the strong economy, instead accusing him of using the news to “distract” from the Russia investigation. Not surprisingly, the dismissal of the President’s role in the good economy began before the report even…

On July 22, 2015, Matthews gushed: over the “immaculate,” “perfect” Democrat: “He's been immaculate in the presidency. Nobody has accused him of any corruption. His kids are perfect. His wife is perfect.”

MSNBC Lets Guest Claim Trump Breaking Law by Rejecting Asylum Claims

July 27th, 2018 2:58 PM
As NewsBusters has previously documented, one of the big recurring problems in media coverage of the Trump administration prosecuting immigrants who cross the border illegally is the conflation of asylum seekers who follow the proper process and those who sneak across the border and then apply for asylum after they are caught. As focus this week has turned to the court-imposed deadline for…

July 26th, 2018 8:46 PM
If there’s one thing the media doesn’t seem to specialize in, it’s originality. They all read from the same script. On five different programs broadcast Monday and Tuesday on three different networks, the media went off the rails; repeatedly calling President Trump a dictator and in some cases comparing him to Turkish Dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At least they didn’t compare him to Hitler.

‘Occupy ICE’ Protesters Terrorize Portland, Assault Feds; Media Yawn

July 26th, 2018 2:45 PM
As of July 25, network newscasts have completely ignored the violence caused by the Occupy ICE PDX antifa group in Portland, Oregon, despite their usual penchant for covering pro-immigration protests. A group of House Republicans dropped a bombshell on Washington, D.C. Wednesday night when they introduced articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Keep in mind that all of the media overreaction comes despite the fact that President Trump has only threatened to revoke the security clearances thus…

Matthews: Trump Is Like a Commie for Banning CNN, Having FNC on AF1

July 25th, 2018 10:06 PM
Offering quite the overreaction to the controversial White House decision to ban CNN White House reporter Kaitlan Collins, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews loosely tied President Trump to communist regimes of yesteryear when “people were only allowed to hear news from the government, that you got arrested or worse if you were caught even listening to news from anywhere else.”
