CNN's Tehran Reporter Pushes Iranian Spokesman to Echo CNN on Trump
January 9th, 2020 12:45 PM
On Monday evening CNN's Brian Stelter tweeted that is patriotic to question and be skeptical of leaders who may stumble into a war. Apparently such sentiment only goes one way at CNN as CNN's Fred Pleitgen was in Tehran for a softball interview on Tuesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif that ended up being just another one of the network's many anti-Trump segments.

Just as ABC News’ journalists did Wednesday evening, CNN journalists on Thursday morning suggested they trusted their own reporting more than they did U.S. military intelligence, by expressing skepticism that Iran intended to kill Americans…

CNN International and PBS host Chrisitane Amanpour opened Tuesday’s joint program (airing live in the afternoon on the former then late-night on PBS) with two interviews in which she couldn’t have been more stark, going softer on an Iranian vice president than U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. In other words, it was par for the course with Amanpour.

As NewsBusters executive editor Tim Graham recently reported, CNN’s Erin Burnett conducted a sit-down interview with Iranian ambassador to the U.N., Majid Takht Ravanchi on Friday where she treated him to some slow-pitch softball questions. One of the worst tendencies of American media is boasting about how independent they are, and then granting the most obsequious access to our worst tyrannical enemies. CNN boss Jeff Zucker calls Fox News "state-run TV," then acts like state-run TV for our enemies in Iran. On Friday night, Erin Burnett threw softballs at Iran's representative to the UN that she would never toss at Trump…

Like many of her CNN colleagues, CNN International and PBS host Christane Amanpour didn’t exactly have jubilant reactions Friday morning to the news of Qasem Soleimani's death via a U.S. airstrike. Instead, Amanpour did everything she could to rhetorically dismiss, question, and undercut the operation, taking shots at the U.S., hailing the French of possessing foreign policy chops, and tossing…
