NBC, CBS Ignore Congressional Hearing on Benghazi; ABC Gives It Only

On Thursday evening, ABC was the only broadcast network to cover the day's congressional hearing on the Benghazi attacks. Both CBS and NBC ignored the hearing. ABC only covered the story for 46 seconds; they gave twice that amount of coverage to the U.S. Olympic speedskating suits. World News quoted retired Air Force Brigadier General Robert Lovell, at the U.S. Africa Command headquarters…

Column: A Man of Sterling Character

I had listened to roughly eight hours of commentary on Donald Sterling and the ugly remarks he made in conversations secretly tape-recorded by his girlfriend, before I heard anyone mention a wife. HE HAS A WIFE? At first, I thought the topic must have changed when I left the room, but no -- the TV talking heads were still discussing Sterling advising his girlfriend to stay away from blacks.

Networks Outraged Over Murderer's Execution; No Pity for Victims

Who’s the victim here: A man who beat, sodomized, shot and buried alive a 19-year-old girl or the deceased girl? What about her family?  To judge by ABC, NBC and CBS, the victim is Clayton Lockett, who brutally killed Stephanie Neiman, kidnapped three more people and committed multiple other crimes, because his execution was botched. The lethal injection drug cocktail administered by the…

Politico Survey: WH Press Corps Are Wealthy Hillary Fans Who Think Oba

The May-June edition of Politico magazine is out, complete with what it boasts is "the most comprehensive survey yet of [the] unique group of journalists" who comprise the White House press corps. The picture painted by the honest answers therein are not altogether flattering. For instance, we see just how much a self-congratulatory, conventional wisdom-spewing echo-chamber the group is with…

Big Three Newscasts Out to Lunch on Jihadists' Mass Kidnapping of Nige

ABC, CBS, and NBC's morning and evening newscasts have yet to set aside any air time to a mass abduction of over 200 schoolgirls from a school in northern Nigeria on April 16, 2014. Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram raided the government-run institution and forced the students into vehicles. On Thursday, the girls' parents and their supporters led a demonstration to pressure the government…

NYT Mediates a Fight Between the Left and Far-Left: 'Bill Clinton Defe

New York Times writer Amy Chozick on Thursday mediated a dispute between liberals like Bill Clinton and very liberal Democrats, such as Senator Elizabeth Warren. The 1250 word article included this uncritical headline: "Bill Clinton Defends a Legacy." Chozick sympathetically explained, "Former President Bill Clinton, who has grown increasingly frustrated that his economic policies are viewed as…

On the Wednesday, April 30, Hardball with Chris Matthews, guest and MSNBC political analyst Howard Fineman -- formerly of Newsweek -- mocked Wisconsin Republican Rep. No Live Coverage: CNN and MSNBC Skip Latest Benghazi Hearing

CNN and MSNBC failed to provide any live coverage of a Thursday morning House Oversight Committee hearing on the terrorist attack on Benghazi. Fox News provided 74 minutes and 25 seconds worth of live coverage of the hearing and had multiple interview and analysis segments talking about the revelations in the hearing. MSNBC provided a small amount of coverage but did not air the hearing live…

ABC, NBC Ignore Shocking Economic Slowdown

With a head in the sand approach, the networks failed to report on the latest economic weakness revealed to happen during President Barack Obama’s tenure. The Commerce Department announced on April 30, that the United States economy barely grew in the first quarter: by only 0.1 percent. That was a sharp decline from 2.6 percent growth rate for the fourth quarter of 2013.

Kos: Conservatives Are Prone to 'Hero Worship of Creepy Criminals

Matt Lewis explored a pattern of conservatives embracing someone [e.g., Cliven Bundy] who is being “bullied by the government or the mainstream media, and turning them into some sort of folk hero," only to wind up with "egg on their face" when that person "says or does something utterly stupid."   On Wednesday, Daily Kos founder and publisher Markos Moulitsas took that point and ran with it,…

MSNBC's Krystal Ball Actually Cites 'Animal Farm' ... as Tale of Capit

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing that George Orwell would get a huge kick out of Orwellian interpretation of his work. Such a travesty occurred on MSNBC's "The Cycle" this past Tuesday when one of its hosts, Krystal Ball -- yes, that's actually her name and, no, apparently she's not a stripper -- weighed in on what Orwell's novella "Animal Farm" actually means. (Video after the jump)
