New Republic: Conservatives, Unlike Liberals, ‘Lionize’ Extremists

Brian Beutler defends President Obama and Mayor de Blasio against attacks from the likes of Rudy Giuliani and contends that while “liberal political leaders in America don’t lionize fringe figures,” their conservative counterparts certainly do.

Salon Bashes Fox's Kurtz for Dissing Female Reporters' Obama Questions

Liberals were overjoyed that President Obama only called on females in his year-ending news conference on December 19. Vanity Fair headlined its story “Obama’s All-Women Press Conference Deals Glancing Blow to Patriarchy.” Simon Maloy at Salon turned into another opportunity for Fox-bashing and male-loathing:

NBC Asks America for Meaning of Christmas: 'Jesus' Didn't Make the Cut

NBC Nightly News offered two stories on Christmas in their December 25 newscast, including a show-ender about “what Christmas means to me.” Somehow, this perfectly pleasant three-minute segment included lot of talk about family time and presents, and even someone saying “Happy Hanukkah,” but included no one uttering the name “Jesus.” No one defined Christmas as about Christ, NBC?

Gruber Before Vermont Failed: Single-Payer Must Succeed in States

Earlier this morning, I posted on Vermont's abandonment of its attempt to impose and implement a "single-payer" (i.e., government-controlled) healthcare system, and on how muted the press coverage has been. It's difficult to overstate how devastating the Green Mountain State's blowup is to the left's oft-stated long-term goal of imposing single-payer, occasionally referred to a "Medicare for all…

Ex-Obama Aide Praises 'George W. Bush's Graceful Silence'

At Bloomberg View, former Obama aide Cass Sunstein – still connected by marriage to Obama through his wife, U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power – praised “George W. Bush’s Graceful Silence.” Democrats often appreciate the gentility of ex-presidents named Bush....even if they never quite criticize the Clintons and Carters who never stay silent during Republican presidencies. Sunstein did not…

Vermont Abandons Single-Payer Health Care; Press Coverage Muted

President Barack Obama, soon to be former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, former Congressman Barney Frank, and many other prominent Democrats and leftists have over the past several years declared that their ultimate goal is turn the U.S. healthcare system into a "single-payer," i.e., completely government-controlled, enterprise. That likely explains why the reaction to Vermont's abandonment…

Daily Kos: Will ‘Frothing Crazy People’ Ruin GOP’s 2016 Chances?

Republicans, remarks blogger Hunter, are “now fairly certain that having frothing crazy people running for president is what doomed them the last time around. But they won't stop…The Republican base—and I mean the frothy ones, the ones that show up in tricorner hats and demand the government get out of their Medicare—lives for these primaries.”

Levin Scorcher: Obama, Holder, Sharpton Waging 'War on the Cops'

To anyone unfamiliar with the force of nature that is Mark Levin, his withering denunciation of President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and aspiring despot Al Sharpton on his radio show earlier this week could serve as a fitting introduction. Levin could barely contain his outrage against the trio he accused of having "blood on their hands" for the unprovoked murders of two New York…

Impressive: New York Times Spins Crime Issue as Problem for GOP

A Christmas Day article in the New York Times left no doubt which party they would leave a lump of coal for. The paper impressively managed to spin a current controversy into a problem solely for the Republican side -- as if crime has not long been a losing election issue for the Democrats -- by portraying the GOP as making knee-jerk, stiff-necked appeals to white fear.

NY Times Christmas Day Op-ed Page: No Believers, Two Atheists

Couldn't the New York Times give it a rest on Christmas Day and feature a column by a believing Christian? No, it couidn't. Instead, believers who blunder onto the online op-ed page today are hit with a lead column entitled "Religion Without God." And just in case you didn't get the message, there's a second column called "An Atheist’s Christmas Dream."

Professor: 'Elf on the Shelf' Teaches Kids to Bow to 'Hegemonic Power'

Liberal newspapers like The Washington Post will grant a wide berth to leftist academics on their silliest-sounding ideas. I found this gem in my Washington Post Express tabloid the other day. Post reporter Peter Holley asked this question about the "Elf on the Shelf" phenomenon: "Cute doll? Or Big Brother on a shelf?" The doll apparently teaches children to live submissively in a national…

Huffington Post Ignores Pro-Life View In 'News' Reports on Abortion

Here’s a question: how can you tell when you are reading “news” from the Huffington Post?  Answer:  When both views on a highly controversial topic are NOT given…meaning, only the liberal view. Case in point: An article the Huffington Post wrote on Monday about the Federal appeals court declaring a North Carolina law requiring abortion providers to show a woman the ultrasound and describing the…
