While he apologized roughly six minutes later, MSNBC breaking news anchor and disgraced ex-NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams jokingly asked former Republican Senator Mel Martinez of Florida during an interview about the Orlando terror attack if he could find his party in the 2016 election “with a flashlight.”

Each of the network evening newscasts devoted the duration of their air time to the terrorist attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando and, unfortunately, the networks immediately rushed to the issue of gun control and did only the bare minimum to highlight Omar Mateen’s radical Islamic beliefs. 

Closing out a special edition NBC Nightly News on Sunday night, weekday anchor Lester Holt and correspondent Harry Smith irresponsibly framed the Orlando terror attack on a gay nightclub as being an issue of gun control and mass shootings instead of one concerning the ideology of radical Islamists and anyone who wavers from it.

Imam Muhammad Musri, the president and senior imam of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, made a statement to reporters Sunday morning at 10:32 a.m. Eastern Time. Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit reports that "This was the first press conference held by Orlando officials after the massacre," and that "No Christian or Jewish leaders were invited to speak to reporters." Tom Brokaw echoed ABC on Sunday by blaming the terrorist attack in Orlando Florida on the popularity of guns in America. Twitter is alight with folks weighing in from both sides, people pointing to the Islamic name and others pointing to the use of an AR-15,” he remarked. He went on to say that he hoped a meaningful dialogue would come from the event.

Hours after this morning's massacre in Orlando, Florida, the Associated Press is already brandishing the gun-control agenda. If someone in the movie business lost a job due to his or her skin color social media would rise up in anger. Venomous tweets. Righteous social media memes. And, if things really heat up, a hashtag campaign. The same holds true if a worker got passed over because of gender or religious beliefs. Who wouldn’t support that cause
