April marked the lowest unemployment rate in a decade, but that didn’t stop one NBC news show from spending far more time covering jobs being lost to Mexico.
“Hiring picked up,” that month according to CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley. All three broadcast network evening shows reported the “positive” jobs report which the Bureau of Labor Statistics released May 5. But the evening shows spent very little time on it that night even though the national unemployment rate dipped to 4.4 percent — the “lowest in ten years.”
More terrible news broke out of North Korea overnight where the murderous regime detained another American on questionable charges. Every one of the Big Three Networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) reported on the development Monday morning. Sadly both CBS and NBC decided to move on from the story come evening. For CBS Evening News, they decided it wasn’t worth the time. But they did find time for a report highlighting anti-U.S. protests.
After almost four months since former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates’ warning to the White House regarding then-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was illegally leaked to the press, Yates testified before a Senate sub-committee Monday, where she confirmed that’s what she did. The media played up the hearing, expecting there to be a “bombshell.” In reality, she simply offered a detailed retelling of her actions. But that didn’t stop the Big Three networks from going nuts later that night.
House Republicans and President Donald Trump took a large step in their efforts to repeal and replace the failing ObamaCare system on Thursday. In a very tight vote, Republicans passed their health care legislation and handed the bill off to the Senate. “But lawmakers voted without the final bill ever being scored, as they say in Washington,” announced ABC Anchor David Muir at the start of World News Tonight, “Meaning they voted without knowing how many fewer Americans would be insured, some predict tens of millions.”
Seconds after the Republican House of Representatives finally passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA), CBS News did their best on Thursday to tout Democratic concerns, pro-ObamaCare protesters, and hypocritically chide Republican supporters for not being “modest” in their massive legislative achievement.
Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton came out swinging Tuesday in a Q&A with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. There, she shifted blame for her humiliating loss while merely claiming to take personal responsibility. The liberal Big Three Networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) were more than happy to aid in her endeavor. “Today Hillary Clinton gave her most candid assessment yet of why she believes she lost the election,” hyped Anchor Scott Pelley during CBS Evening News.
Proposing tax cuts is the surest way to turn the liberal news media into deficit hawks. That’s exactly what happened in network coverage of President Donald Trump’s tax plan.
The liberal media love big spending and Big Government, until Republicans take over. It’s part of a double standard they apply on the issue of debt and deficits. A liberal like President Barack Obama can help create a $1.4 trillion deficit (and that was just the first year) and that’s no problem.
CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley is plainly the most anti-Trump of the Big Three anchormen, having gone out of his way since the Inauguration to slam Trump's “falsehoods,” even asking if the President “is having difficulty with rationality.” For taking on the President in such a direct way, Pelley has become something of a rock star among his fellow journalists.
The White House on Wednesday released the outline for the President’s proposed tax plan that would drastically cut taxes and simplify the filing process, among other things. CBS’s resident Trump critic and anchor, Scott Pelley kicked off the show smearing it. “Today the Trump administration rushed out a plan for historic tax cuts high on hyperbole, but with only a dollop of detail,” he declared at the top of CBS Evening News. His critique was loaded with snide attacks at the President and at one point divorced itself from reality, something Pelley once chastised Trump for.
Ivanka Trump was embracing her role as adviser to the president on Tuesday when she was representing the United States at a women’s summit in Berlin, Germany. While on stage, she stated that her father has “been a tremendous champion of supporting families.” And with that, the European audience “hissed” and “jeered.” The liberal Big Three networks were more than happy to pounce on the incident and replay it that evening.
Secretary of Defense James Mattis made a visit to Afghanistan Monday, where he and General John Nicholson stated that a top U.S. adversary was backing the Taliban. “9,000 U.S. troops are on the ground trying to help the Afghan army hold back a resurgent Taliban,” announced Anchor Scott Pelley during CBS Evening News, “But the job is getting tougher by the day thanks in part to Moscow.” The revelation was chilling considering U.S. troop could be coming up against those weapons, and it went unreported on ABC and NBC that evening.
Former President Barack Obama made his first public appearance at the University of Chicago on Monday, where the liberal media championed his return. “Meantime tonight, we're hearing from former President Obama speaking out in his first public event since leaving office, jumping back into the spotlight and a lot of attention focused on what he would say about his successor, President Trump,” hyped Anchor Lester Holt during NBC Nightly News.
