On Thursday, the network morning shows were beside themselves with enthusiasm over Democrats taking to the House floor to demand gun control with an all-night sit-in. On NBC’s Today, correspondent Peter Alexander was particularly swept up in the excitement and declared the partisan political stunt to be “Truly one of the most dramatic demonstrations on the House floor in modern American history.”

Many are calling their actions a publicity stunt, and they seem to be right. On Thursday, NBC’s Today applauded a partisan political stunt by Democrats to exploit the Orlando terrorist attack and push their left-wing anti-gun agenda. Co-host Savannah Guthrie opened the show by breathlessly proclaiming: “Democrats take their fight for gun control late into night....A marathon session that ended just hours ago with a deal reached with Republicans to hold two key votes.”

During their evening news coverage Wednesday NBC and CBS championed Senate Democrat Chris Murphy’s (Ct.) filibuster for movement on gun control legislation. Reporter Peter Alexander praised Murphy’s actions as, “a filibuster fueled by frustration,” on NBC’s Nightly News. “Democrats commandeering the Senate floor, trying to force a vote to toughen up gun laws,” Alexander continued. 

On Tuesday, both NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning actually promoted an offensive temper tantrum thrown by congressional Democrats in the House of Representatives on Monday during what was supposed to be a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the Orlando terrorist attack.

After hailing Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren as a “progressive champion” for Hillary Clinton on Thursday, on Friday, NBC’s Today doubled down as co-host Savannah Guthrie led the show by cheering the left-wing lawmaker formerly endorsing the presumptive Democratic nominee: “Clinton's secret weapon?...Is Warren on the VP short list? The speculation that has the political world spinning.”

On Friday's NBC Nightly News, Andrea Mitchell touted how Donald Trump's repeated shots at the ethnic background of a federal judge "reinvigorated" Hillary Clinton's presidential bid. Mitchell hyped how "her campaign thinks she has finally cracked the code on how to make the attacks on Trump stick, after that takedown...billed as a foreign policy speech — at times, sounding more like a roast."

On Tuesday, all three network morning shows denounced Donald Trump’s campaign ad going after Bill Clinton’s treatment of women as a “another low” in the presidential race and parroted Hillary Clinton’s campaign talking points dismissing numerous sex abuse allegations against her husband as “old” and “discredited.” On NBC’s Today, Matt Lauer warned the campaign was “getting even nastier.”

On Monday, all three network morning shows reveled in President Obama blasting Donald Trump during a college commencement address over the weekend. At the top of NBC’s Today, co-host Matt Lauer touted: “President Obama takes a not-so-veiled shot at Donald Trump in a commencement address...” A soundbite played of Obama ranting: “It's not cool to not know what you're talking about.”

On Monday’s NBC Today, correspondent Peter Alexander framed Donald Trump’s adoption of various liberal policy positions as evidence of his “flexibility” as a candidate: “Trump showing plenty of flexibility on the issues, now open to a minimum wage increase after opposing it during the primaries. At the top of Thursday’s NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer proclaimed: “Game on. Clinton and Trump gear up for their likely general election showdown....They’re two of the most unpopular candidates in recent history.” He then promised an examination of the flaws of both candidates: “This morning, the major obstacles facing both campaigns.”
