As if he was the hero they needed to vanquish their nemesis, the liberal media fell in love with the public impeachment testimony of White House Ukraine adviser Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman. All three of the major broadcast networks kicked off their evening newscasts with gushy reports touting his role in the day-long marathon of impeachment hearings. Surprisingly, NBC Nightly News was the one network to include some of the questions about Vindman’s testimony and phone call narrative.
All three networks began Friday night’s newscasts with two or three breathless segments touting the day’s Democrat impeachment narrative, centered on former Ukraine ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, who they fawned over as a “respected anti-corruption champion” subjected to a “smear campaign” by the president and his advisers.
At a Thursday press conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) essentially authorized the use of the word “bribery” to describe President Trump’s phone call with the president of Ukraine. The broadcast networks gushed about her use of the word and showed their approval by roundly noting that bribery was an impeachable offense explicitly laid out in the Constitution.
Someone told me about a phone call they overheard between someone else and President Trump on the other end: that was the crux of the “new evidence” out of Wednesday’s televised impeachment hearing that had the liberal media foretelling doom for the President. Despite the fact it met the literal definition of hearsay, ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News pounced on the testimony of diplomat Bill Taylor.
As one radical, anti-gun Democrat (Robert O’Rourke) drops out of the 2020 race for president, another appeared set to take his place. And the liberal media were loving it. In that vein, both ABC’s World News Night and NBC Nightly News kicked off their Thursday evening newscasts by hyping reports former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was readying documents to get on the Democratic primary ballot in Alabama.
ABC News found itself embroiled in a dark scandal Tuesday, after a leaked video of network anchor Amy Robach was released showing her admitting ABC had killed her story, which would have exposed additional pedophile allegations against investor Jeffrey Epstein. The network’s only response, so far, was to release a week statement on Twitter claiming the story was not ready for airtime. And come that evening’s World News Tonight, the network refused to address the scandal.
Oklahoma held the title for the highest lockup rate in the country (1 in every 100 residents), but that began to change on Monday after some 500 non-violent offenders had their sentences commuted by sweeping criminal justice reform. ABC, CBS, and NBC celebrated the move during their evening newscasts but ignored the role of the heavily Republican-control legislature and the Republican governor in giving people another chance. A point the networks would’ve hammer home if it were Democrats.
Despite the fact that Congresswoman Katie Hill (CA), now a falling star in the Democratic Party, was facing an ethics investigation over allegations she had a sexual relationship with a congressional staffer, the liberal media were holding water for her as whined about there being a supposed “double standard” for how she was forced to resign. One anchor even suggested she was a victim.
The broadcast networks once again showed that they relied heavily on Democratic leaks and talking points to build out their impeachment coverage. During their Tuesday evening newscasts, ABC, CBS, and NBC touted the testimony of National Security Council staffer Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman as a “bombshell” and “damning” for President Trump. But the testimony was delivered behind-closed-doors to a Democratic-led investigation committee.
The liberal media love to document the fall of political rising stars; particularly those that involve sex scandals and Republicans. One of those prerequisites was not met Thursday evening, when CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News chose not to inform their viewers that Democratic “rising star”, Congresswoman Katie Hill (CA) was facing a Congressional Ethics Committee probe for having an affair with a female staffer. The only broadcast network to mention the scandal that evening was ABC.
With House impeachment investigators questioning U.S. diplomat to Ukraine Bill Taylor behind closed doors on Tuesday, it meant the liberal media were more than happy to get all their reporting material via selective leaks from the Democratic side. During their evening newscasts, ABC, CBS, and NBC blasted viewers with the Democratic narrative that the testimony was “the most damaging testimony to date” and that President Trump’s defenses “crumbled” in its wake.
When John Bolton first became President Trump’s national security advisor back in March of last year, the liberal broadcast networks were sounding their alarms to warn viewers of his “hardline” and “controversial” positions. But on Tuesday, they clung to reports that Bolton described Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani as a “hand grenade” running something like a “drug deal” in Ukraine.
