Google has finally decided to lift its ban on political ads, just in time for the Georgia runoff elections. The search engine paused new political ads since Election Day for fear of misinformation, but it has now apparently decided to reinstate these ads just under a month before Georgia voters will decide which party will control the United States Senate.

Although the presidential election was more than a month ago now, Facebook is continuing to crack down on what it has decided is misinformation about the election. A Facebook fact-checker marked an article that Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) posted on December 4 as “Partly False Information” for the apparent sin of calling the results of the 2020 election into question. 

A fact-checking website may not even be able to properly check the facts in its own articles when the facts don’t line up with its narrative. FactCheck.org, which  partners with Facebook to fact-check articles and social media posts, has not corrected a January article that provides incorrect information regarding the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in China. 

Facebook has, once again, decided to step up its censorship game.

The social media platform has reportedly decided that it will remove what it deems to be “false claims” about the COVID-19 vaccine that could be available around the world fairly soon, according to Bloomberg News.
