Huge Media Cover-Up of Criminal Charges Against Gay Leader

July 16th, 2015 4:49 PM
Last November, Terrence Bean was taken into custody in Portland, Oregon following an indictment by a jury that charged him with multiple sex crimes against minors. Now additional child sexual abuse charges have been made against him. Why isn't the media covering this? Because he's a prominent gay leader, that's why.

July 16th, 2015 4:19 PM
Thursday's New Day on CNN played up how Bruce "Caitlyn" Jenner received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award from ESPN. Alisyn Camerota underlined that "it's an interesting moment in history. I think that it can't be underscored how important it is for that [transgender] community." Chris Cuomo spotlighted how Jenner used his acceptance speech "to call for tolerance, and to quiet critics." Cuomo also…

Networks Ignore Hillary Clinton’s Favorability Plummeting to 39%

July 16th, 2015 2:27 PM
On Thursday, all three network morning shows skipped a new poll showing that Hillary Clinton’s favorablity rating had fallen to 39 percent. The newly-released Associated Press-GFK poll found: “Just 39 percent of all Americans have a favorable view of Clinton, compared to nearly half [49 percent] who say they have a negative opinion of her.”

NY Times Ignores Hillary's $18.7 Million in Second-Quarter Spending

July 16th, 2015 11:41 AM
Nicholas Confessore and Maggie Haberman at the New York Times studiously avoided talking about Hillary Clinton's campaign spending in their front-page print edition story Thursday ("Hillary Clinton Lags in Engaging Grass-Roots Donors"). Mrs. Clinton hauled in $48.7 million, but she spent a stunning $18.7 million. As seen in a table accompanying the Times story, that's more than triple that of…

AP Fails to Note Falling Shipments to Explain Flat Manufacturing

July 15th, 2015 11:44 PM
The serious sales slumps combined with inventory buildups in manufacturing and wholesale industries, documented in previous NewsBusters posts, continues. So does the establishment press's determination to ignore them. At the Associated Press today, Christopher Rugaber was tasked to cover the Federal Reserve's June release on Industrial Production. The good news is that the Fed report showed an…

NYT Sees 'Political Danger' for GOP if Planned Parenthood Targeted

July 15th, 2015 10:37 PM
Political reporter Jackie Calmes, a prime defender of Democrats from her New York Times perch, suggested in Wednesday's edition that an undercover video exposing Planned Parenthood harvesting body parts of aborted babies would mean "political danger" for Republicans. Calmes not only played the shocking revelations as a purely political issue, but suggested any emphasis on the gruesome practice…

MSNBC's Mitchell Rolls Her Eyes As She Discusses Netanyahu

July 15th, 2015 1:20 PM
In an extraordinarily and inappropriately indulgent interview with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif yesterday, MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell rolled her eyes as she mentioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's position that the "deal" between Iran and an alliance led by the U.S. is a "mistake of historic proportions." Immediately after doing so, she refocused her attention on Zarif, smiled…

FNC Covers Planned Parenthood Baby-Parts Scandal; CNN, MSNBC Skip

July 14th, 2015 9:11 PM
While cable networks CNN and MSNBC on Tuesday looked the other way following the release of the disturbing video showing a Planned Parenthood executive discussing the sale of body parts from aborted babies, the FNC's Special Report offered a full report on the investigation by the Center for Medical Progress from chief legal correspondent Shannon Bream. Not surprisingly, on Tuesday night ABC, CBS…

AP Hides Another Decline, This Time in Manufacturing and Trade Sales

July 14th, 2015 7:47 PM
First, the good news. The Associated Press's Martin Crutsinger didn't handle his coverage of today's release of May's "Manufacturing and Trade Inventories and Sales" report by the Census Bureau as incompetently as he did the report on wholesale sales and inventories he filed on Friday. Visitors here may recall that the AP reporter referred to a key figure as "inventories" when it really…

Today Show Celebrates: Atticus Finch 'Knocked Off His Pedestal'

July 13th, 2015 10:12 PM
The media instinct to trash all that is inspiring and noble was unmistakable in Monday morning's Today report on the new novel (Go Set a Watchman) by Harper Lee, the author of the widely celebrated, best-selling To Kill a Mockingbird, first published in 1960. Debate has raged over whether Lee, who is in very poor health and whose mental competence has been questioned, ever wanted her manuscript…

USAT: Murders Up, Poor and Minorities Hardest Hit, Guns to Blame

July 12th, 2015 11:07 PM
Aamer Madhani at USA Today took the easy way out on Friday in covering the sharp increases in murders in many U.S. cities during the first half of this year. He quoted Milwaukee's police chief bemoaning "absurdly weak" gun laws. He noted that "the increased violence is disproportionately impacting poor and predominantly African-American and Latino neighborhoods." He found a university prof to…

NYT Blames Roof's Gun Purchase on 'Loopholes' in System, Law

July 11th, 2015 11:54 PM
Apparently nothing is ever the government's fault during the Obama era — even a clear failure by authorities to prevent an alleged mass-murderer from acquiring a gun, and their failure to retrieve it once he obtained it. Earlier today, before it went down the paper's frequently used memory hole, reporter Michael S. Schmidt wrote in his second paragraph that alleged mass murderer Dylann Roof got…

At AP, Too-Convenient Mislabeling Hides Steep Wholesale Sales Decline

July 11th, 2015 3:11 AM
Martin Crutsinger has been a business and economics writer at the Associated Press for over three decades. Certain people in high places apparently hold him in high regard. In early 2014, on his 30th anniversary with the wire service, he is said to have received congratulatory letters from soon-to-be Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen, soon-to-be-former chair Ben Bernanke and Obama administration…

Nets Too Busy Hyping Parade to Notice Obama Admin. Defying Court

July 10th, 2015 9:42 PM
On Friday, ABC, CBS, and NBC's evening newscasts all ignored how the Obama administration issued the latest version of its abortifacient/contraception mandate under ObamaCare, which ignores multiple court rulings against it – including the Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby ruling in 2014 – and again tries to force religious non-profits to fund drugs that they consider to be immoral. Instead, the Big…
