WashPost Headline Betrays Its Tilt Against Nevada's 'Biggest Corporate Tax Giveaway'

September 11th, 2014 1:13 PM

In today’s Biased Headlines department, see today’s Reid Wilson report on the Washington Post website from Wednesday: “Nevada is about to pass the biggest corporate tax giveaway in its history.”

Both liberals and conservatives have complained about Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval striking a deal with the electric car maker Tesla granting an estimated $1.3 billion in tax exemptions, or “tax expenditures,” if you are a liberal Democrat, to build a "gigafactory" promising an estimated 6,500 jobs.

But would the Post ever publish a headline talking about our country’s “biggest food stamp giveaway in its history”? Or put “welfare” next to “giveaway”? Nexis searching doesn’t find any examples in the last 12 months. You might find the Animal Welfare League is having a giveaway, but nothing about government redistribution.

Instead, the Post hearts bleed over poor Americans who have trouble choosing whether to spend their money on food or tattoos.
