The elitist media put Independence Day fireworks on national TV, but afterward, they treated the smoke as a health hazard caused by President Trump. Politico's headline was "Trump plans record fireworks show, internal docs warn of smoky skies."
PBS made a classic Democrat programming choice with a half-hour "news" special on Bruce Springsteen, who claimed his vicious partisan attacks should be described as "critical patriotism." We hate, because we love? He didn't offer any "critical patriotism" of Obama or Biden.
MRC Video director Eric Scheiner and CNS News managing editor Craig Bannister join the show to discuss America 250 and the politics around it. Conservatives always face the choice of liking rock stars despite their politics, and not because of it. Scheiner pointed out that actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is being trashed as a coward for backing away from making political statements.
The breaking so-called scandal on Monday is President Trump’s call to the FIFA World Cup people to inquire about the “red card” or ban on an American soccer player. CBS was whining about the lack of integrity of the competition now. Unless America’s player was banned for tripping, it had no integrity?
Craig wrote a cheeky piece asking: If America truly is the 250 year-old systemically racist, economically unjust, heartless dystopia that liberals claim, why aren’t they demanding that the government secure the border to protect migrants from coming here and ruining their lives? He suggests they know better.
On Friday, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani delivered a blatantly anti-American speech from City Hall, supposedly to mark America's 250th Birthday, accusing America of being full of racism and bigotry, where "not all are created equal. You would think this would be newsworthy, but on Friday, the Big Three evening newscasts and PBS News Hour all passed on it, while Fox News shows whipped him for disrespecting America.
Speaking of Mamdani, on Friday's PBS News Hour, pundit David Brooks struck a true centrist pose, denouncing Trump's "authoritarian power grabs," and then turning around and trashing the ascendant "authoritarian wing" of the Democratic Socialists of America, insisting the Democrats need to reject the left-wing authoritarians. In reply, Jonathan Capehart claimed this trend of DSA victories is not yet "a thing," and that Mayor Mamdani is doing just fine.
On CNN This Morning, host Audie Cornish let a guest describe President Trump's alleged corruption in accepting the gift of a plane from Qatar, but shut the guest down when he attempted to discuss Nancy Pelosi's enrichment while in office. "You're [getting into] modern politics, and I brought you guys on because it's been a time for historians."
On many occasions, it seems the definition of political relevance or newsworthiness is measured by its degree of helpfulness for the Democrats. If it's inconvenient, it should be omitted.
