If the media were truly objective on violent protests against police, they would discourage January 6 rioters and leftist rioters. They shouldn't be shaming Trump at the same time they downplay violence against police in Los Angeles as a nothingburger. NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck has watched all the riot coverage on the morning and evening newscasts.
CBS justice correspondent Scott McFarlane has doggedly pushed Nancy Pelosi's January 6 narrative for four years, and now that the people assaulting the police are leftist protesters who hate immigration enforcement, he's accusing the president of a double standard. What about the media's double standard? Did they ever follow up on any Republican questions about Pelosi? No, they stuck closely to Pelosi's spin.
CBS reporter Ed O'Keefe wondered if the riots in Los Angeles would devolve into the military shooting protesters, like at Kent State in 1970. Speaking of bad historical analogies, CBS Evening News anchor John Dickerson somehow took this back to Trump being like Joe McCarthy somehow. “something deeper, cruelty, and a loss of basic human restraint.” He unbelievably accused Team Trump of shattering norms of decency! When they attack Trump as Hitler or any generic dictator, that can't be uncivil, because they feel they are correct.
I never stop pointing out that this same John Dickerson penned an angry piece for Slate in 2013 that said this about Obama's second term: "The president who came into office speaking in lofty terms about bipartisanship and cooperation can only cement his legacy if he destroys the GOP. If he wants to transform American politics, he must go for the throat."
The big media news yesterday was that ABC dismissed their senior political correspondent Terry Moran. He’d been with the network since 1997. Moran was dumb enough to write this vicious tweet about how Trump adviser Stephen Miller is a world class hater who gets spiritual nourishment by eating his hate. Even the George Stephanopoulos Network thought that was too much opinion.
