Ed Schultz Stars at Fundraiser for Indiana Dems, Cries Racism at GOP

Here's another sign the rules against campaign donations/fundraising at MSNBC are toast: Ed Schultz was the star attraction at a $50-a-plate fundraiser for the Kosciusko County Democrats in Warsaw, Indiana on Saturday night. (Some paid $250, apparently, to be even closer to Big Ed.)

Daniel Riordan of The Warsaw Times-Union reported Schultz asked if there were any Republicans present. "When seemingly everyone in the room pointed to State Representative Dave Wolkins, Schultz joked, 'I’ll talk slow so you can understand.'” There were also unintentional laugh lines: “(Obama)’s offered up more cuts in spending than Johnson, Carter and Clinton combined,” he said. He's a regular Calvin Coolidge, that Obama.

Schultz summarized:

“We’re the ones that care about you after you’re born,” continued Schultz.

Schultz told those in attendance to keep fighting against the “lies and innuendo” from outlets like Fox News.

“We need to make sure our kids get the right message,” said Schultz. “I’m out to show Republicans that they don’t love this country as much as we do.”

Schultz explained that he recently bought a plane to travel around the country. By buying that he had the chance to take an $850,000 write-off on his taxes.

“I do not need a $850,000 write-off for a Citation jet I bought earlier this year,” said Schultz. “Money does funny things to people...

"Wages are going down, expenses are going up. But Republicans are going to protect the top one percent,” said Schultz.

“If that’s not enough, they’re going to go after pensions and medicine,” said Schultz.

Schultz said he was frustrated that some Republican talking points weren’t challenged. He pointed to the “bailout” of car companies.

“People keep calling it a ‘bailout.’ It wasn’t a bailout. It was a loan and they’re paying it back,” said Schultz.

Of course, Schultz saw racism in opposition to Obama. That claim must be mandatory:

Citing that Republicans said they were going to “break” President Obama as an old term concerning slaves, Schultz said, “They’re racist and they don’t even know it.”

“No other president has had to operate in the environment our president has,” said Schultz.
