GROAN: CBS Asks Why Is Kamala So ‘Terrific’ and ‘Obama-Esque?’

August 12th, 2020 10:31 AM

Here’s what you didn’t hear on Wednesday as CBS propagandists questioned former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett about Joe Biden’s vice presidential pick: No questions about just how radical-left Kamala Harris is. No questions about how she claims to believe sexual assault accusation against her running mate. Instead, Anthony Mason and Michelle Miller asked Jarrett to explain why Harris is so “terrific” and “Obama-esque.”

Mason offered the ultimate softball: “What do you think Joe Biden learned about Senator Harris running against her? And why, as you say, would she make a terrific vice president?” Miller asked the Obama operative just how Obama-esque the new “Politics aside, Team Harris is a considerable network.... She seems so Obama-esque. She checks so many boxes of representation. Does she galvanize an energy that looks or feels similar to you?”

Mason then asked about Harris as the “conservative choice.”

Senator Harris has really kind of been the front-runner from the beginning I think in many people's eyes. What does it say to you about the state of the Democratic Party that the daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and from India was kind of the conservative choice here?

Now, he obviously is using "conservative" to mean the safe pick. But considering there was no liberal label in the segment, it’s still a lame description. Finally, Mason asked the Democrat just how she wanted the media to cover Harris:

Valerie, you were one of the co-signers of that letter [to the media on sexism]. What —  what exactly are you going to be looking out for, and what are you challenging the media to do here?

Yes, let's look to Democratic operatives on how the media should cover Democrats.

CBS This Morning
8/12/2020
7:00 AM ET

ANTHONY MASON:. Biden's historic choice. Senator kamala Harris is the first woman of color on a major party's ticket. How she'll work with the presumptive nominee after clashing with him during the primaries.

...

7:09 AM ET

MASON: And joining us is Valerie Jarrett. She was the senior adviser to former President Barack Obama. Valerie, good morning. You've said there's nothing like —

VALERIE JARRETT: Thank you, Anthony.

MASON: Good morning. You've said there's nothing like running against somebody to know what it's like to have them on your team. What do you think Joe Biden learned about Senator Harris running against her? And why, as you say, would she make a terrific vice president?

...

MASON: A lot was made of the verbal punch she threw during the debates about bussing at the former Vice President, and some people in the Biden camp were reportedly stung by this. How did they get past that?

JARRETT: Well, I think Vice President Biden is a bigger person than that. He's not thin skinned.
...

MICHELLE MILLER: Michelle Miller here. Politics aside, Team Harris is a considerable network. Judging from just the tweets I saw yesterday, from her sorority sisters to her HBUC alum and beyond. She seems so Obama-esque. She checks so many boxes of representation. Does she galvanize an energy that looks or feels similar to you?

...

MASON: Senator Harris has really kind of been the front-runner from the beginning I think in many people's eyes. What does it say to you about the state of the Democratic Party that the daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and from India was kind of the conservative choice here?

JARRETT: [Laughs] Well, you know, I think, first of all, it is in a sense the American story. Immigrants who come here, work hard, who raised their two daughters to think that there were no limits to what they could achieve. I think that's a story we will all look up to.

...

MILLER: We heard what President Trump had to say. A lot of people are waiting to see how the Senator responds. What do you think she'll say?

...

MASON: Valerie, you were one of the co-signers of that letter [to the media on sexism]. What —  what exactly are you going to be looking out for, and what are you challenging the media to do here?

...

MASON: Valerie Jarrett, thank you for being with us this morning.
