It’s Mueller Day, So of Course Joe Scarborough Drops a Nazi Reference

July 24th, 2019 12:26 PM

If it’s a weekday, then it’s time for a Nazi reference on Morning Joe. Previewing Robert Mueller’s testimony in front of Congress, Joe Scarborough compared Donald Trump to the evil of Hitler and the Nazis: Citing the Financial Times, he blasted, “... The Nazis in the early 1930s would rail against quote, 'the system,' constantly railing quote ‘against the system’ because the, quote ‘system’ was actually still stopping them in the early 1930s from doing what they wanted to do.”

Without really explaining how this all related, Scarborough assured viewers that it’s just like the Nazis: “So they attacked, quote ‘the system’ just generally until finally they were able to break it down and do whatever they wanted.”

Concluding the Nazi comparison, Scarborough darkly warned, “This keeps happening.” On Tuesday, Morning Joe regular Donny Deutsch said it’s time to “sound the alarm” on Trump and the rise of a Nazi threat in 2020.

On the July 19 Morning Joe, Deutsch attacked that “Nazi” Trump supporters are engaging in “ethnic cleansing, politically.”  On July 18, Scarborough ranted about Nazi-like Trump fans at a “Nuremberg rally.”

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Wait, Donald Trump talking about what a disgrace to our system. When yesterday he was speaking, but some young Americans saying that the Constitution gave him the right to do whatever he wanted to do. and I have to think back to that Financial Times article yesterday talking about how the Nazis in the early 1930s would rail against quote, “the system,” constantly railing quote “against the system” because the, quote “system” was actually still stopping them in the early 1930s from doing what they wanted to do. So they attacked, quote “the system” just generally until finally they were able to break it down and do whatever they wanted. This keeps —  well, let me go to you Matt Miller. This keeps happening.
