CBS’s Gayle King Gushes Over Porn Lawyer Michael Avenatti: ‘He’s a Rock Star!’

June 14th, 2018 12:51 PM

CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King on Thursday fawned over porn star lawyer Michael Avenatti, hailing him as a “rock star.” King, a Democratic donor, touted the appearance of Avenatti on Wednesday’s Late Show With Stephen Colbert

King gushed over Stormy Daniels’s lawyer, cheering: “I would love to see Michael Avenatti. He's going to do something. I just don't know what it is.” She enthused: “He’s a rock star!” Co-host John Dickerson offered a little clarity, sarcastically noting: “He is doing a TV show, just by appearing on other TV shows.”

Dickerson seems to at least be aware of just how much free press liberal journalists have given Avenatti. As of May 31, the adult film star attorney has been granted 162 interviews

As noted above, Avenatti appeared on Wednesday’s Late Show, alongside former Donald Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci. Colbert suddenly turned into a journalist and grilled Scaramucci about his former boss: “Are you okay with the lies? Are you okay with the lies?” He lectured, “If you lie, there’s a consequence for being caught.”

There are consequences for politicians lying? How hard did liberal journalists and comedians hammer Obama for his lies?

JOHN DICKERSON: Deadline Hollywood reports on last night’s appearance on The Late Show by Stormy Daniels Attorney Michael Avenatti and former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci. They appeared together with Stephen Colbert.

STEPHEN COLBERT: Gentlemen, welcome back to the show both of you. You've both been on here once before. Obviously my first question is what is this? And my follow-up is what, what, what is this? And my follow up is why is this?  Why are the two of you —

DICKERSON: Avenatti and Scaramucci are being called the new Washington “it" couple. They're reportedly being shopped around as possible co-hosts of a TV show. Scaramucci's nickname is the mooch. Avenatti said he would never do a TV show with with a guy whose first name is “the.” I feel like the four horseman are in their stables getting ready at this moment. Getting ready for them to have a TV show.

GAYLE KING: They could both carry a TV show my themselves, to be honest with you. But the two of them could be very interesting. I would love to see Michael Avenatti. He’s going to do something. I just don’t know what it is.

DICKERSON: He is doing a TV show, just by appearing on other TV shows.

KING: He's a rock star, I think. It will be interesting to see his next chapter.

NORAH O’DONNELL: Absolutely!  If it’s them together as a couple?
