MSNBC Guest: ‘Psychopathic Bigot’ Trump Is Aided By ‘Largely White’ FBI

November 4th, 2016 1:11 PM

Appearing on MSNBC, Friday, the liberal Ana Marie Cox sneered that the only reason the FBI has renewed its interest in Hillary Clinton is because the department is “largely male and largely white.”  She also blasted Donald Trump as a "psychopathic bigot." Additionally, former Newsweek senior editor Howard Fineman dismissed James Comey’s actions recently as at least partly to “cover his rear politically.”

Cox, now the senior political correspondent for MTV News, slimed the FBI as full of bigots: “One reason why the FBI might be so pro-Trump is that it looks like Trump. because its  largely male and largely white.” She hissed that “those are the people that go for Trump in general.”

Cox assailed, “Women and people of color are going to save this nation basically because we're immune to the call of this, you know, schizophrenic, psychopath bigot.”

Regarding reports that agents within the FBI are looking at the Clinton Foundation and attempting to alert people about possible Clinton crimes, the journalist mused, “I think it's an interesting question to ask if the FBI were a more diverse place, would Comey have been facing this insurrection?”

Repeating her thesis, Cox theorized, “I also think that if you point that kind of thing out, that the FBI is largely white and male and largely male and therefor kind of pro-Trump, I mean, that is Hillary's argument in general.”

Fineman, now with the Huffington Post, dismissed:

HOWARD FINEMAN: He was facing insurrection, I think, within his agency and I think one of his motivating factors in addition to covering his rear politically with angry Republicans was that if he was afraid that if didn't disclose to leaders in Congress this new look at these e-mails on the famous Abedin/Weiner laptop, that it was going to get leaked out of the department and he would be looked like he was participating in a cover-up.

TAMRON HALL: Joining me now, senior political correspondent for MTV News, Ana Marie Cox and the Huffington post global editorial director Howard Fineman, also an NBC, MSNBC political analyst. Just quickly, Howard, I want to get your thoughts on this interview this morning with Rudy Giuliani. As you know, there's been reporting, NBC News also looking into reports that FBI agents colluded to release damaging information against Clinton right before the election. This decision made by Comey that really rocked this race. Here's Giuliani asked about the —   okay, we don't have it. But, I don’t know why we don’t have it.

HOWARD FINEMAN: I can imitate Rudy Giuliani.

HALL: He was asked about it and said he did not know anything about this. What are we to make of these reports? The Guardian has one up as well as several other publications.

FINEMAN: Well, I think it’s quite clear based on what James Comey did. And I wrote about this the other day. I mean, he was facing insurrection, I think, within his agency and I think one of his motivating factors in addition to covering his rear politically with angry Republicans was that if he was afraid that if didn't disclose to leaders in Congress this new look at these e-mails on the famous Abedin/Weiner laptop, that it was going to get leaked out of the department and he would be looked like he was participating in a cover-up. So, you can tell by how James Comey, normally a careful guy behaved, that he was afraid of the insurrection that apparently is going on within his own FBI.

HALL: And the quote, Ana Marie, from this Guardian article, it says that the currently serving FBI agent said Clinton is the "anti-Christ personified to a large swath of FBI personnel.” And that the reason they're leaking this because they're pro-Trump. Is there way for her to capitalize off of reports like this or is it just time for her to move on and close this out?

ANA MARIE COX: Well, you know, I’m not sure about that. I just want to point out that one reason why the FBI might be so pro-Trump is that it looks like Trump because its largely male and largely white. I don’t think — Those are the people that go for Trump in general. I mean, I think it's an interesting question to ask if the FBI were a more diverse place, would Comey have been facing this res— this insurrection? I don't think so. And I also think that if you point that kind of thing out, that the FBI is largely white and male and largely male and therefor kind of pro-Trump, I mean, that is Hillary's argument in general. I mean, women and people of color are going to save this nation, basically, because we're immune to the call of this, you know, schizophrenic, psychopath bigot. And so, you know, I think this is par for the course in some ways. I mean, it's unprecedented. It’s the weaponization of transparency in a way. It’s one thing, it's really disturbing. You expect Russia to tamper with our elections, I guess but don't expect the FBI to.

HALL: Well, listen, if you look at the civil rights movement, the FBI has in the past, so it's not like it's that far away of what the allegations involving Donald Trump.

COX: That's true.
