Sean Hannity Highlights Media's Double Standards Regarding Immigration

During Thursday's edition of Hannity, host Sean Hannity pointed out how liberal journalists engaged in hypocrisy by deciding to dismiss the situation at the southern border as a “manufactured crisis.” Hannity also contrasted the media’s complete denial of a crisis at the border today with their declaration of code red over a similar situation at the border back in 2014, when their beloved President Obama was in office.

After playing clips of Democrats dismissing the massive flow of illegal immigrants at the border as a “manufactured crisis,” Hannity talked about how “their best friends, the hate Trump media, constantly now repeating that exact talking point. In other words, they're nothing but an extension of all things Democratic Party because they are all saying the same thing.” Hannity proceeded to play clips of media figures using the term “manufactured crisis.”

Following the conclusion of the montage, Hannity pointed out that “they all sound all alike. They all say the same thing. One big talking point repeated again and again.” He then began to lay out some statistics related to the number of Americans who die as a result of the heroin that comes across the southern border.

After sharing another batch of statistics related to the consequences of an open border, Hannity contrasted the media’s dismissal of a crisis at the southern border in 2018 with their coverage of a similar situation in 2014, when they agreed with the Obama administration that a crisis was unfolding on the southern border.

According to Hannity, “somehow in 2014, when Obama was President, well then the mainstream media...weren’t saying it was manufactured then.” Hannity talked about how “they highlighted the crisis,” before reading aloud some headlines from The Washington Post, CNN, and The Huffington Post.

Hannity prefaced a series of clips highlighting the media double standard by saying “the mainstream media on TV did not refer to this as a manufactured crisis.” After playing the clips, Hannity stated the obvious: “they always support the Democratic agenda. In this case, that was Obama’s agenda. The only difference now is Donald Trump is the President. Now for the first time according to Democrats and the media, walls are actually immoral and many of these same Democrats voted for some of these walls.”

So, the media’s definition of a crisis, as well as their coverage of immigration crises, depends on the party of the President. Either way, the media will act as covert liberal activists; enthusiastically parroting the White House’s talking points during a Democratic administration while ferociously refuting them in a Republican administration.

SEAN HANNITY: Think about it. In order to obstruct the President’s agenda, the hate Trump Democrats, hate Trump media, they actually have to pretend that border security doesn’t matter, that walls are somehow immoral; walls they voted for in the past and that is, of course, one big manufactured crisis. And they keep saying it again and again and again. Take a look.

SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI: President Trump must stop holding the American people hostage; must stop manufacturing a crisis.

SENATOR CHUCK SCHUMER: This President just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis.

TOM PEREZ: This is a manufactured crisis. No crisis exists and anyone making the argument is most likely guilty of fear mongering and willfully misleading the American people.

REP. JOAQUIN CASTRO: Locals will tell him on the border, even conservatives, is that there isn’t a national security crisis.

REP. JUAN VARGAS: The notion that we have a crisis there, a security crisis, is absolute nonsense.

REP. RAUL GRIJALVA: This is a manufactured crisis and a crisis that manufactured by the Trump administration.

REP. ADAM SCHIFF: This artificial crisis of the President isn’t going to justify his appropriating money for a wall that Congress is unwilling to give.

JOHN BERMAN: Is there a crisis at the border? The President said there is a humanitarian crisis at the border. Is there?

REP. JAMES CLYBURN: Absolutely not. We have a challenge, all our humanitarian issues are challenges for us.

HANNITY:  And of course the hate Trump Democrats, their best friends, the hate Trump media, constantly now we repeating that exact talking point. In other words, they’re nothing but an extension of all things Democratic Party because they are all saying the same thing. Take a look.

NICOLLE WALLACE: The big scam of the whole address was that there is a crisis. There’s not a crisis.

CHUCK TODD:  Folks, the President has manufactured one heck of a political crisis for himself.

AMANDA CARPENTER: Donald Trump is manufacturing a national security crisis.

JEN PSAKI: What you will hear them say is that this is a manufactured crisis. It’s not a national security crisis.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: It remains a Seinfeld shutdown…

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: A Seinfeld Presidency.

SCARBOROUGH: …all about, all about nothing.

MIKE BARNICLE: What happens when there is a real crisis, when there is a real emergency? Does he take to the airwaves? Do we give him the airwaves? Do we believe him?

JIM SCIUTTO: Some question if there is a crisis at all as the President has claimed.

JOE LOCKHART: There is not a crisis at the border. It’s a manufactured crisis for the President to get a political win.

JIM VANDEHEI: A crisis can have, as we see now, a very elastic definition.

DON LEMON: He is determined to convince you there is a crisis at the border. Even though an intelligence official tells CNN, “no one is saying this is a crisis except them.”

HANNITY: They all sound all alike. They all say the same thing. One big talking point repeated again and again. But we do lose 300 Americans every week because of the 90 percent of heroin that crosses that southern border. Now earlier today, Daily Caller, Sirius XM Patriot’s Kerry Picket, she had the opportunity to ask Nancy Pelosi to defend that stance on border security. Take a look.

KERRY PICKET: The Democrats are calling this a manufactured crisis.

NANCY PELOSI: Yes, it is.

PICKET: Now, would you essentially say the same thing to say, Corporal Ronald Singh’s family or to those families who…

PELOSI: I’m sorry, what are you saying?

PICKET: Do you say that this is a manufactured…

PELOSI: Right, but what’s the next one?

PICKET: …to Corporal Ronald Singh’s family who has…ended up losing him to a illegal immigrant who ended up shooting him over in your state. Would you say this to families who had lost relatives to heroin overdoses because, obviously, the drug, 90 percent of the time, came from Mexico. What would you say to families like that?

PELOSI: Well, what I would say to families like that is what I say to the President, regularly, these are tragic situations. There’s a tragic situation at the border. Two little children died in the custody of the Border Patrol. But the plural of anecdote is not data. What the President is proposing will not eliminate those possibilities.

HANNITY: So is Nancy Pelosi, is she going to look Officer Singh’s family in the face and say that; manufactured crisis? I wonder if she would tell these families that lost their loved ones that that doesn’t really count as real data, that this is a manufactured crisis. I don’t think they are seeing it that way. These are real human beings, real Americans, law abiding people. We have families that are being uprooted and destroyed, lives senselessly taken forever. Take a look.

REGGIE SINGH: The way he was killed, what my family is going through right now, I do not want any other family, law enforcement person to go through that. Whatever it takes to minimize, put a stop to it, my family fully supports it.

MARIE VEGA: I want them to go to work, be safe, come home to their families safely and I always, every day I was, you know, scared that I would lose my son. Never in my wildest dream did I ever imagine my son dying at a family outing; a criminal illegal alien that killed him.

HANNITY: Really, Chuck? Really, Nancy? You are calling that a manufactured crisis and we lose 300 Americans every week because of heroin, 90 percent of which comes across the southern border? Now, these are the facts that the mainstream media and the Democratic Party, they refuse to show you. They are all in sync together. They are just an extension of each other. Now in just the past two years alone, 4,000 criminal aliens were arrested for homicide. 30,000 criminal aliens were arrested for sex crimes, over 100,000 for violent assaults. And last year, 800 gang members were apprehended at our border. Now, that’s a 50 percent increase over 2017. There were also 122 percent increase in Fentanyl. And that’s being smuggled across the border as well. 90 percent of the heroin, that’s smuggled across the border. That’s in every small town and big city in America. And keep in mind, every seven days, 300 Americans are dying. 17,000 individuals with criminal records were apprehended trying to cross the border. 60,000 inadmissible or illegal immigrants are turned away from our borders every single month. And over the last 30 days, 20,000 children, they were smuggled or trafficked right here into the United States. On the other side of the border, the crisis is also very real. One out of every three migrant women who make this treacherous, dangerous, arduous journey to our southern border are sexually assaulted. We need to protect people on both sides of the border. Seven in ten migrants have reported being victims of violence during that dangerous trek. And an average of 50 children every day require emergency medical care after they arrive at the southern border. Now, Speaker Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, this is not a manufactured crisis. These are real statistics, real people, real lives and many deaths. This is about life and death. And as you can clearly see, this is a humanitarian and a national security crisis of epic proportions. And it’s a national security emergency that has now been brewing for years. Somehow in 2014, when Obama was President, well then the mainstream media, well they weren’t saying it was manufactured then. And they highlighted the crisis. The Washington Post has reported, quote: “White House requests $3.7 billion in emergency funds for border crisis. Now, look at this headline from fake news CNN. “Daniel’s Journey: How Thousands of Children Are Creating a Crisis in America.” Even The Huffington Post weighed in with a featured story about the southern border being a crisis. And the mainstream media on TV did not refer to this as a manufactured crisis. As a matter of fact, we went back to our archives. Here is how they portrayed this in the media when Obama was President.

BRIAN WILLIAMS: This growing humanitarian crisis on the U.S. Border with Mexico.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: As the government struggles to balance border security with a growing humanitarian problem.

EVA LONGORIA: Nobody wants illegal immigration. There is many tenets to immigration. There is obviously securing the borders, which everybody agrees with. There’s not one person that doesn’t agree with whatever we have to do to secure borders.

MARK ALBERT: The White House calls this an urgent humanitarian situation and says its request to Congress will include a border security surge.

HANNITY: So, they always support the Democratic agenda. In this case, that was Obama’s agenda. The only difference now is Donald Trump is the President. Now for the first time, according to Democrats and the media, walls are actually immoral and many of these same Democrats voted for some of these walls.
