Hannity Slams ‘Media Fascism’ Trying to 'Silence Conservative Voices'

During Sean Hannity's Opening Monologue for his weeknight program on Tuesday, April 25, the Fox News Channel host hammered the people who participate in what he dubbed “Media Fascism,” an attempt to “silence every conservative voice in the country.”

“It’s no secret that the alt-radical-destroy-Trump-propaganda-media, they are completely biased,” the host said to begin the segment. “They’re agenda-driven. They’re lazy, they’re ideological. They’re incapable of actually delivering honest news coverage to you, the American people.”

“Now we know for a fact they helped elect Barack Obama,” he stated. “They never vetted him. They colluded with the (Hillary) Clinton campaign. That was proven through Wikileaks, and we know they’re on a mission: to take down President Trump.”

Hannity then remarked:

Simply put, they want him thrown out of office; if possible, handcuffed, mug-shotted, perp-walked and put in jail.

Since they won’t stop until that happens, well, now the destroy-Trump media, they’re advancing their attack, and they’re attacking outlets and people and individuals who refuse to push their biased talking points and fall in line with their agenda.

“By the way,” he noted, “they hate Fox News, they hate talk radio. As a matter of fact, they hate any conservative who supports this president and supports his policies.”

Hannity continued: “Their goal right now is to shut down and completely silence what they see as ‘opposition.’ It’s evolved into what I am calling tonight ‘Media Fascism.’”

“Let me explain,” he added. “Last night, I told you that I have become the target of a smear and slander campaign” by author Debbie Schlussel. “Now, the alt-radical-destroy-Trump-media quickly, immediately, they picked up on all the smears and lies.”

“It spread like wildfire all around the country,” Hannity stated, “despite the fact these allegations were completely false. The individual who made them quickly recanted these bogus claims, but the destroy-Trump media, they wanted a cheap headline.”

The host of Hannity then asserted that “a simple, basic, fundamental Google search would have ended the witch hunt against me, but these lazy, so-called journalists, if they did that, they would have discovered this individual has incredible, serious, severe credibility issues.”

Also, the Fox News Channel anchor indicated that the accuser “has targeted and tried to smear and slander me for well over a decade, but as I said, this isn’t about me or any individual. It’s so much bigger.

“It is about silencing every single conservative voice in the country,” Hannity asserted. “Now, the seeds of this have already been planted; the playbook has already been revealed. The destroy-Trump media viciously attacked then-candidate Trump and now-President Trump.”

The FNC host then provided “a few disgusting examples” of his assertion.

First up was comedian Seth Meyers, who stated in Washington, D.C., on April 30, 2011, that “Donald Trump has been saying he will run for president as a Republican. This is surprising since I just assumed he was running as a joke.”

The most egregious aspect of this attempt at humor was the fact that Trump was sitting in the audience.

The video then skipped ahead to July 26, 2015, when Keith Ellison, a Democratic Representative from Minnesota, told a panel on ABC’s This Week program: “We’d better be ready for the fact that he might be leading the Republican ticket.”

At that point, the other guests broke out into laughter and host George Stephanopoulos said: “I know you don’t believe that.”

Next up was Bill Maher’s Real Time program on the Home Box Office pay cable channel on June 19, 2015, when he asked his guests: “Which Republican candidate has the best chance of winning the national election?”

Conservative author Ann Coulter responded: “Of the declared ones right now, Donald Trump.” Her answer drew loud laughter from the audience.

Then on November 8 of 2016, Van Jones of the Cable News Network declared the election “a ‘Whitelash’ against a changing country … against a black president in part, and that’s the part where the pain comes.”

“If it wasn’t so serious, it would be funny,” Hannity then stated. “Now, these Media Fascists have been going after the president nonstop since November 9, but as we’ve seen, the commander-in-chief -- to his credit -- refuses to sit back and take it. He’s been fighting back at everything that’s been thrown at him.”

The host then noted: “Now this has obviously frustrated the destroy-Trump-hate-Trump media, and they’re now re-directing some of their attacks and targeting every White House adviser.”

“By the way, even the First Lady, members of the president’s family, his daughter, even the president’s 10-year-old son is a target,” Hannity noted.

As NewsBusters previously reported, this isn’t the first time the Fox News Channel host has taken on the “mainstream media,” and it definitely won’t be the last.
