Liberal Actor Shia LaBeouf Goes on Bizarre Anti-Trump Rant

January 26th, 2017 7:57 AM

Mostly former actor and now mostly performance artist Shia LaBeouf seems to be under the illusion that if the above monotonous chant is repeated on livestream video 24/7 for the next four years, it will somehow have some sort of political impact. Well, maybe not so much political as a comedy impact as we shall see although that definitely is not LaBeouf's intention. Entertainment provides us with a quick review of LaBeouf's latest performance art obsession that has inadvertently turned into comic art for others.

Ahead of Trump’s inauguration on Friday, LaBeouf and his collaborators, Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rönkkö, announced HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US, a four-year live stream outside of the Museum of the Moving Image in New York. A camera outside the museum will stream continuously for the next four years (or the duration of Trump’s presidency). The camera is open to the public, and participants are encouraged to say the words “He will not divide us” into the camera. The words are intended to serve as a mantra, acting as “a show of resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community.”

So if you're sitting at your computer late at night perhaps looking for a laugh, check out the 24/7 livestream at HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US. There is a good chance you will see infantile leftists robotically chant their silly mantra as if that will make a difference which is sort of funny by itself. However, the real humor comes when they go ballistic in the presence of Trump supporters. It gives the viewers a entertaining chance to see just how much the left tolerates political diversity.

The good news is that you don't have to suffer through their boring chants for long. Almost every hour, the best comedic moments from the livestream camera are uploaded to YouTube. First up is some freestyle rap from Shia LaBeouf himself that is so bad that it's funny.

In the next video, actor Jayden Smith (son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith) and his robotic chanting is thoroughly mocked via some creative editing.

And if you just want to see the highlights for each day, that can be found too. Here are the highlights of Day 2 Part 1. It features some guy who left an MP3 player loudly going full blast next to the camera for 4 hours until the battery ran out. Also featured is a woman who performed the chant for at least 3 hours. A normal person would get bored chanting that in about 30 seconds but she is so dedicated to the useless cause that she wasted hours of her life on Shia LaBeouf's performance art project.

I'm expecting great things in terms of comedy to result from this HWNDU livestream camera. Perhaps next January 20 there can be a televised show where Shia awards are given to the livestream segments in terms of funniest, most pathetic, wierdest, etc.

Oh, and you can thank me now for not showing you the clip of the guy mooning the livestream camera. Yeah, that already happened. We have 4 years (probably 8) to go with the Trump presidency so there is a lot of time left for yet more camera flashing.

UPDATE: Early this morning Shia LaBeouf was divided from the rest of the chanting livestream group when police arrested him for an altercation. Here is the video of Shia's bust in front of the livestream camera.

An Associated Press report provides some details about the arrest of the performance artist:

NEW YORK – Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested early Thursday after he allegedly got into an altercation with another man outside a New York City museum where he has been chanting "He will not divide us" in front of a live camera since Donald Trump's inauguration.

Police said LaBeouf pulled the scarf of an unidentified 25-year-old man outside the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, scratching his face in the process. They said he also pushed the man, who refused medical attention.
