Goldie Taylor: 'Bachmann Might Be a Lunatic, But She’s Not the Lunatic Gingrich Thinks She Is'

Just how much do the media want to prevent Newt Gingrich from becoming the Republican presidential nominee?

So much that despite their total disdain for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), they'll even defend her from supposed sexist attacks by the former Speaker of the House (video follows with transcript and commentary):

ALEX WITT, HOST: Now some people are going so far to say that Gingrich was sexist in the way that he treated Bachmann. Goldie, do you think it is unfair to interpret these nuances as sexist?

GOLDIE TAYLOR, THE GRIO: I actually don’t think it’s unfair. I think that it’s very clear in how Newt Gingrich addresses Michele Bachmann in a debate. Michele Bachmann might be a lunatic, but she’s not the lunatic Newt Gingrich thinks she is. She really is a serious candidate for the presidency.

WITT: Do you think he’s being sexist, or do you think he’s just not taking her seriously? He looks at her poll numbers, he looks at the like, and he may prefer it if she just weren’t on that stage any longer.

TAYLOR: Well, you know, he takes Rick Santorum seriously. He takes Ron Paul seriously. He takes other people in the race who happen to be men who aren’t polling as strongly as he is seriously. And so why the difference, why the condescension for Michele Bachmann? So I think it was absolutely clear. I think her response was absolutely right. She is as serious as any other candidate in this race running for the presidency of the United States.

[Michele Bachmann] is as serious as any other candidate in this race running for the presidency of the United States.

When's the last time you heard anyone in the liberal media say Michele Bachmann is a serious candidate?

All year folks like Taylor have been claiming that Bachmann is crazy and has absolutely no qualifications for the White House whatsoever.

But now that Gingrich has a chance at winning the nomination, people like Taylor are actually willing to defend Bachmann if it hurts him.

Are there any lengths these folks won't go to get Barack Obama reelected?
