Michele Bachmann Greeted With 'Lyin' A-- B--ch' by Jimmy Fallon's Band

As we get nearer to Election Day, Americans on both sides of the political aisle must be wondering if the media will have any limits concerning what is an acceptable attack on one of President Obama's opponents.

Consider that on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, as Republican presidential candidate and sitting member of Congress Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) was introduced Monday, the band played a song called "Lyin' A-- B--ch" (videos follow with commentary):

As CBS's Minnesota affiliate reported at its website Tuesday:

Jimmy Fallon’s house band the Roots didn’t have a warm welcome for Republican presidential contender Michele Bachmann when she appeared on the NBC show early Tuesday.

As Bachmann strode on to the stage at Fallon’s “Late Night,” the show’s band played a snippet of a 1985 Fishbone song called “Lyin’ Ass B****.”

The song begins with a distinctive “la la la la la la la la la” refrain — the only words audible before Bachmann, smiling and waving to the audience, sat down.

Hot Air reported Tuesday:

The dumbest part of this, of course, is the drummer tweeting about it to make sure everyone got “the joke,” which defeats the purpose of disguising the insult...Fallon himself tweeted a few hours ago that the drummer is “grounded” but we’ll have to wait ’til tonight’s show to find out if that means anything more than “please stop yelling at me about Bachmann.”

So where are America's women's groups - like the National Organization for Women - on this?

Is every attack on conservatives now acceptable in this country?

Apparently so, for ABCNews.com reported this Tuesday as a "joke on Michele Bachmann" without an ounce of outrage or disgust:

Exit question: Would a female reporter for ABCNews.com or any news outlet in the nation have thought this was just a joke if a prominent Democrat woman like Hillary Clinton or Nancy Pelosi had been so disparaged on national television?

Update: Fallon apologized to Bachmann on his Twitter account Tuesday: "I'm honored that was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back."
