Piers Morgan: Huntsman Saying 'I'm Going to be President' in Chinese 'Could Become Viral'

As NewsBusters has been reporting for weeks, America's Obama-loving media are pushing for Utah's perilously moderate former governor Jon Huntsman to be the Republican presidential nominee.

On CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" Monday, the host was floored by Huntsman's claim in Chinese “I’m going to become the next President of the United States” telling his guest, "This clip could become viral. We could be huge here" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

PIERS MORGAN, HOST: This is a big moment for you, because only one member of the Republican field can speak the native tongue of America’s biggest commercial ally, enemy, whatever you want to call them.

JON HUNTSMAN: Well, you haven’t tested everybody else. How do you know that?

MORGAN: I’m pretty sure none of them, I can’t imagine Michele Bachmann jabbering away in Mandarin. So, here you go. Speak to me in Mandarin.

HUNTSMAN: [Speaks in Mandarin.]

MORGAN: That is spectacularly good.

HUNTSMAN: How do you know?

MORGAN: What the hell have you just said to me?

HUNTSMAN: I said, “Whatever I say, you’ll have no idea what it is.” And after that I said my name in Chinese, and I said, “I’m going to become the next President of the United States.”

MORGAN: [Laughs.]

HUNTSMAN: And for the billion people who live on this earth who actually know who I am and my Chinese name, the unfortunate thing is, Piers, I’m known by the wrong quarter of, of the world’s population.

MORGAN: Well, at the moment.

HUNTSMAN: They’re all going to get it.

MORGAN: At the moment. You know, this is going to be big in China. They’ve never heard any American candidate talking in their language. This is going to be huge, right? This clip could become viral. We could be huge here.

HUNTSMAN: You just wait and see. I have no doubt about that.

From Huntsman's lips to every Obama-loving media members' ears.

Of course, this kind of behavior from the press is nothing new. They're goal is always to champion the most moderate Republican candidate.

This serves two purposes: first, as the nation continues to shift to the right, a soft and squishy GOPer has little chance of exciting the base enough to secure a victory.

Just ask John McCain.

On the other hand, if this didn't work out as planned, and the Republican in Name Only actually does win, the media at least would have someone in the White House far more palatable to them than an actual conservative.

Which makes this strategy a Win-Not Lose as Badly as They Could proposition.

Morgan on Tuesday was just doing his part.
