Krauthammer: Huntsman's 'Fatal Problem' as Candidate - People Like Newsweek's Evan Thomas Like Him

Newsweek's Evan Thomas said on Friday's "Inside Washington" that former Ambassador Jon Huntsman's big problem in getting the Republican presidential nomination is he's "too moderate" and "people like me like him."

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer humorously agreed saying this was a "fatal problem" for Huntsman (video follows with transcript and commentary):

EVAN THOMAS, NEWSWEEK: The 64 dollar question is Huntsman.

MARK SHIELDS, PBS: Yes.

THOMAS: I mean, Mitch Daniels was, was going to be great, except that his wife didn’t want him to do it, and I guess his polls were bad, so he’s not going to do it. He’s gone. But Huntsman is the big question, because he’s got some charisma which Pawlenty lacks. He is too moderate, people like me like him which is a big problem for him in the Republican Party…

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Absolutely a big problem.

THOMAS: …and probably a fatal problem.

KRAUTHAMMER: A fatal problem.

THOMAS: But he’s an attractive candidate, people are going to watch him.

Yes, but as Krauthammer pointed out on last Friday's "Inside Washington," mainstream media support of a Republican candidate is a Trojan horse.

Conservatives are far better off with a candidate people like Thomas hate.

Such a person shouldn't be too tough to find, should it?
