The View Defends Biden Shunning Young Grandkid, DEMANDS You Ignore It

July 10th, 2023 4:40 PM

While ignoring the cocaine found in the White House last week and the new Axios report exposing President Biden as someone who verbally abuses his staff, the cackling coven of ABC’s The View defended the President for “following” his son’s “cue” and shunning the 4-year-old granddaughter his son Hunter fathered with a stripper. Together, the cast attacked the mother and demanded that everyone ignore how the President was mistreating his granddaughter.

They were triggered by Maureen Dowd’s weekend column in The New York Times: “It’s Seven Grandkids, Mr. President.” “[S]he should be kvetching at the son whose baby it is. It's not the President's baby,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg decried. She was joined by faux conservative Ana Navarro, who whined and ridiculously suggested Dowd was part of “MAGA world” and said her column “shouldn't have been – directed to Joe Biden. It should be directed to Hunter Biden.”

Racist co-host Sunny Hostin said she was “split on this” because the child was born into the “circumstance” but attacked the mother, Lunden Roberts for attempting to “wedge herself into the [Biden] family.”

“And apparently, this was more of a one-night stand. It wasn’t like they had a relationship, he was in the throes of addiction when this woman became pregnant,” Hostin argued, decrying how the child was in a picture wearing “an Air Force One cap and at the Jefferson Memorial.”

Hostin went on to defend Biden’s shunning by saying he was “just following what his son has set in motion. And how do you fault any of that?”

Co-host Sara Haines suggested that “The hard part is you have both parents are kind of weaponizing the child.” But she did take issue with how oddly specific President Biden had been about saying how many grandkids he has:

The only time I think President Biden doesn't need to overstep his son. I like that part. But I don't know why they go out of their way to say “six grandchildren” or “four kids.” When my parents talk about me, they say, we love all our kids. We love our grandbabies. They've never numerically repeat over and over, “I like three kids, I like four of this.”

Unmoored from reality, Navarro blamed Republicans for the comments Biden had made about his grandkids in his speeches: “The reason that’s happening is because the right-wing, who again is weaponizing everything related to Hunter, keeps asking: ‘So, how many children do you have, Mr. President? How many grandchildren?’”

As they were nearing the end of the segment, Goldberg started shouting about how the Biden family’s drama and mistreatment of grandkids was nobody’s business and that Americans didn’t have the right to any of it (Click “expand”):

GOLDBERG: I'm sorry, you know, these things are -- for me, when you start talking about people's families and what they're doing, I find it unnecessary. This is not anybody's business. Nobody needed to know about this.

HOSTIN: No.

GOLDBERG: This is private, and I know people feel like you need to know everything. I'm sorry. You don't. You need to know not almost anything about people. But that’s me.

Self-described conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin called out their hypocrisy by noting that “if it was Trump, we would talk about it.” Haines proceeded to prove the point and Goldberg defended the hypocrisy (Click “expand”):

FARAH GRIFFIN: If Trump had a grandkid he wasn’t acknowledging –

HAINES (interrupting): He probably does!

FARAH GRIFFIN: He didn't acknowledge Tiffany very much.

GOLDBERG (interrupting): Well, I will say – I will say – you know, when they are grown kids, you can talk about it, but this is a baby.

Farah Griffin was also the one to push back on Navarro’s nonsense, pointing out that Dowd works for The Times, so she certainly wasn’t MAGA, and that Republicans were not to blame for Biden repeatedly claiming he only had six grandkids. “No, it’s been in speeches he’s written. It's in speeches he delivers,” she set the record straight.

She also shared the heartbreaking realization that Biden’s granddaughter “will someday be old enough to know that he was choosing to reject her and not acknowledge her as his [grand]child.”

The View’s defense of the Biden’s family’s sleaziness was made possible because of a lucrative sponsorship from Swiffer. Their contact information is linked.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Scarring one of his grandchildren's lives by not publicly embracing her. So, apparently, his son had a baby with a woman. They've fought about it, and he pays for the baby, but he has not embraced the child. So, Maureen Dowd is saying it's bad for the child that the President has not acknowledged her. So, I kind of think, well, that's a -- she should be kvetching at the son whose baby it is. It's not the President's baby. So I don't know what you think, but I'm throwing it out there.

ANA NAVARRO: I agree with you completely. It shouldn't have been – directed to Joe Biden. It should be directed to Hunter Biden. It's five children, not four, Hunter, because this is not Joe Biden's baby and I think it's very hard for Joe Biden to be a grandfather to the child if his son is not being a father. He can talk to his child. He can advise Hunter.

But look, what is absolutely evident to me is that the right-wing and the MAGA world has decided to weaponize Hunter Biden against his dad. And everything and anything that Hunter does or does not do is going to be weaponized.

ALYSSA AFRAH GRIFFIN: But this is Maureen Dowd at The New York Times.

NAVARRO: Yeah, she's a very serious person.

FARAH GRIFFIN: I’ll preface this: It makes me uncomfortable even to talk about. And you guys know I have a sister who's a recovering addict. I couldn't have more sympathy for the struggles that come with that. Also, I have estrangement in my family. I can’t have a birthday pass or a holiday pass I don’t think of the phone call I’m not receiving that day.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Cause you're estranged from your dad.

FARAH GRIFFIN: I'm estranged from my father.

And I can’t pretend to know what’s going on with the child, but I know that someday she will be old enough to read and hear the speeches where he says “my six grandchildren” and just leaves out that there’s the seventh. If he could even just change that language; to me, that would be enough. Because I don't know what's going on behind closed doors, but she will someday be old enough to know that he was choosing to reject her and not acknowledge her as his child.

HOSTIN: I'm sort of split on this because I hate this for that child. You’re not asked to be born into the world. You’re just a – it’s just a circumstance.  And apparently, this was more of a one-night stand. It wasn’t like they had a relationship, he was in the throes of addiction when this woman became pregnant. And she is posting pictures of the baby, like, with an Air Force One cap and at the Jefferson Memorial. And so, she is sort of trying to -- I don't know. Wedge herself into the family, and I don't think that's the right way to do it.

And I agree. I mean, this is Hunter's issue, and I don't -- I think that the President who loves his family so much, I think is just following what his son has --

GOLDBERG: The cue, from his kid.

HOSTIN: -- set in motion. And how do you fault any of that?

SARA HAINES: The hard part is you have both parents kind of weaponizing the child. Because I know that Hunter Biden is, like, denying the child his name which may make sense because they were never together. I don't understand, but they're fighting legally. The mom's posing the child with all these caps. The sad part here is the child is the innocent victim here that didn't make any choice and is having to suffer as a result.

NAVARRO: The reason that’s happening is because the right-wing, who again is weaponizing everything related to Hunter, keeps asking: “So, how many children do you have, Mr. President? How many grandchildren?”

FARAH GRIFFIN: No, it’s been in speeches he’s written. It's in speeches he delivers.

GOLDBERG: Maybe Maureen Dowd should find something else to wry about.

HOSTIN: Yeah. Write about something else!

[Applause]

GOLDBERG: I'm sorry, you know, these things are -- for me, when you start talking about people's families and what they're doing, I find it unnecessary. This is not anybody's business. Nobody needed to know about this.

HOSTIN: No.

GOLDBERG: This is private, and I know people feel like you need to know everything. I'm sorry. You don't. You need to know not almost anything about people. But that’s me.

[Applause]

FARAH GRIFFIN: But I do feel like if it was Trump, we would talk about it is thing. If Trump had a grandkid he wasn’t acknowledging –

HAINES (interrupting): He probably does!

FARAH GRIFFIN: He didn't acknowledge Tiffany very much.

GOLDBERG (interrupting): Well, I will say – I will say – you know, when they are grown kids, you can talk about it, but this is a baby.

HOSTIN: It's a baby.

GOLDBERG: She has no business doing -- she has made this a problem. Not Hunter, not this woman. She's made it a problem.

HOSTIN: They've settled the issue.

NAVARRO: But they didn't settle it until last week. They were in a legal fight until last week. Let's see what happens now.

GOLDBERG: But she [Dowd] wrote it anyway. She wrote it anyway. And to me, I feel like you should wait and see what's going to happen because now you're going to kind of look a little weird if they have dealt with it and fixed it and now here you are.

NAVARRO: And by the way, if he reaches out to the granddaughter, they’re going to say it's all because of politics. The same people who want him to reach out, if he reaches out, are going to criticize him anyway.

GOLDBERG: She's not watching. I am. We'll be right back.
