During Wednesday’s World News Tonight, sensationalist ABC anchor David Muir and correspondent Alex Perez teamed up to try to pull the wool over the eyes of their viewers; trying to make it seem as though President Biden flew to Chicago, Illinois to fight crime when in reality he was more interested in peddling his massive spending agenda.
At the top of the offending segment, Muir announced that Biden had traveled to Chicago to meet with Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) and solve their bloody crime wave:

The report in question was the first time the program had acknowledged that the city had its most violent weekend this year. “This morning's shooting comes on the heels of a violent Fourth of July weekend in Chicago, more than 100 people shot, at least 18 killed. Now, some local officials asking the feds for help,” Perez reported.
But their suggestion that Biden was there to save the day was miles away from the truth. Or to be more specific, 49 miles, which is how far away the suburb of Crystal Lake is from crime-infested Chicago. That’s where the President held an event to push for his so-called “human infrastructure” plan and nothing else.
As usual, Fox News Channel’s Special Report was there to tell the truth and upend the liberal narrative. “President Biden met quickly today with one of the mayors of America's most troubled cities, Chicago about the surge in deadly violence. This comes as the President visits the heartland to promote his spending agenda without mentioning the carnage,” fill-in anchor Mike Emanuel announced.
“And President Biden came to the suburban town intent on selling his agenda, but the never-ending bloodshed in Chicago took center stage,” added international correspondent Mike Tobin. “Their meeting amounted to a brief greeting on the tarmac. The leader of the free world and mayor of Chicago unable to control the nightly bloodshed in her city.”
Tobin also detailed how getting to a solution evaded Democrats because “the violence has Chicago's leaders turning on each other.” “The superintendent of police blames the courts citing cases of violent gunmen who re-offend while out on bail,” Tobin noted.
And from the more radical elements in the city, Tobin reported that they were blaming the police:
Timothy Evans, the chief judge of Cook County pushed back, writing: “Speculation based on isolated cases is not the same as reality based on a complete picture, and research has shown that bail reform has not led to an increase in crime.”
Cook County State's Attorney Kim Fox directed blame back at cops tweeting: “It starts with apprehending those who pull the trigger. Police must make an arrest before the case reaches the courthouse door.”
“On Tuesday, the White House press secretary blamed the weather,” he recalled, pointing to Jen Psaki noting that crime goes up in the summer.
It's dysfunction ABC would obviously ignore.

PEREZ: The frantic scene playing out in the early morning hours. Two ATF agents and one Chicago police officer working undercover in an unmarked vehicle when they came under fire.
DAVID BROWN (Chicago Police Superintendent): At 5:50 A.M. this morning, officers were fired upon from the street towards the on-ramp while they were in their car
PEREZ: Dozens of first responders on the scene. The injuries, thankfully, authorities say, not life-threatening. And tonight, detectives are questioning a person of interest.
According to the city's top cop, 36 Chicago police officers have been shot or shot at this year already.
BROWN: This is a very challenging time to be in law enforcement, but they are rising to the challenge, doing all they can.
PEREZ: This morning's shooting comes on the heels of a violent Fourth of July weekend in Chicago, more than 100 people shot, at least 18 killed. Now, some local officials asking the feds for help.
