NBC Leans on Biden to Lecture Tim Scott About Racism in America

April 29th, 2021 10:47 PM

South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott exposed the radical left for who they truly were with his Wednesday address following President Biden’s to Congress, including his statement that “America is not a racist country.” It unleashed a tsunami of hate and racism from the left as CNN and MSNBC lashed out and Twitter let “Uncle Tim” trend for far too long. NBC Nightly News continued the left’s attack on a black conservative by having President Biden lecture Scott on what racism was really like in America.

From the opening tease, anchor Lester Holt was looking forward to Biden’s comments against Scott on race:

Also tonight, the first look at our NBC News exclusive interview with President Biden on his 100th day in office on the heels of his address to the nation. The President hitting the road to tout his multi-trillion-dollar plans for the largest government expansion in history. And his response to what Senator Tim Scott said in his Republican rebuttal about racism in America.

In just 60 seconds the backlash over comments on race by the senator who delivered the Republican rebuttal to President Biden's speech. The President's exclusive response tonight,” Holt hyped as he went to the first commercial break.

Fast-forward to the end of the segment and NBC showed off a clip of Today co-host Craig Melvin teeing up Biden to scold Scott for speaking the truth that America was not racist:

CRAIG MELVIN: He said among other things, America isn't racist. Is it?

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: No, I don't think the American people are racist. But I think after 400 years African-Americans have been left in the position where they're so far behind the 8-ball in terms of education, health, in terms of opportunity. [transition] I think the overhang from all of the Jim Crow and before that slavery has had a cost and we have to deal with it.

The report itself was delivered by chief White House correspondent Kristen Welker. “He's a rising Republican star and potential presidential candidate. Tim Scott, who grew up poor in South Carolina, then became a senator,” she said of Scott.

She even seemed to elevate the hate Scott received after his address:

While many praised Scott, others called him naive. For hours the hashtag “Uncle Tim” trended on Twitter before it was blocked. The phrase echoing a racial slur, "Uncle Tom," used to describe black Americans who were viewed as too deferential to white people. Scott slamming the comments this morning.

Of course, while they were pushing the racist left’s position that Scott didn’t know anything about racism, they refused to tell viewers about how Scott had authored the Republican police reform bill that Democrats shot down using the filibuster, which they now claim is racist. A saga NBC completely ignored.

As for ABC’s World News Tonight and the CBS Evening News, they didn’t mention Scott’s address at all.

NBC’s smears and racism against Senator Scott were made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Consumer Cellular and Honda. Their contact information is linked so you can tell them about the biased news they fund.

HOLT: It was the Republican response to the President's address last night that drew some of the strongest reaction today after Senator Tim Scott declared that America is not a racist country. Kristen Welker has that story.

KRISTEN WELKER: He's a rising Republican star and potential presidential candidate. Tim Scott, who grew up poor in South Carolina, then became a senator.

SEN. TIM SCOTT (R-SC): Good evening.

WELKER: Grabbing headlines with this response to President Biden's address.

SCOTT: Hear me clearly. America is not a racist country. It's backwards to fight discrimination with different types of discrimination.

WELKER: While many praised Scott, others called him naive. For hours the hashtag “Uncle Tim” trended on Twitter before it was blocked. The phrase echoing a racial slur, "Uncle Tom," used to describe black Americans who were viewed as too deferential to white people. Scott slamming the comments this morning.

SCOTT: Intolerance so often comes from the left with words like "Uncle Tim" and the N-word being used against me by the left.

WELKER: In an exclusive interview today, Craig Melvin pressed President Biden on Scott's comments.

WELKER: Meanwhile, tonight, George Floyd's brother and other advocates met with top White House officials on police reform. President Biden called on Congress to pass a bill by the first anniversary of Floyd's death, May 25th. Lester.

HOLT: Okay, Kristen, thanks very much.
