ABC Touts Scowling Democrats Booing Trump During SOTU Address

January 31st, 2018 8:54 PM

ABC News continued their anti-Trump meltdown over the President’s State of the Union speech into Wednesday evening as they seemed to praise Democrats who were seen childishly pouting during the address. And after the liberal media freaked out over Republicn Congressman Joe Wilson (S.C.) shouting “you lie” at President Obama during the 2009 joint session of Congress, ABC seemed impressed with Democrats who were protesting the President and loudly booed him.

Sensationalist anchor David Muir kicked off the segment by lamenting Trump was under pressure to get a deal on DACA done lest the government be shut down again. “Democrats with what has been described as a mostly silent protest during the State of the Union last night,” he said as he highlighted Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s grimace. He also claimed Trump offended people by saying Americans were dreamers too.

Senior White House Correspondent Cecilia Vega began her report by mocking Trump for not doing well during his speech, which was a persistent liberal media narrative (particularly at ABC) despite poll numbers showing otherwise.

Not known for bridging the divide, tonight, President Trump's push for bipartisan unity falling flat with Democrats,” Vega quipped before glorifying Pelosi’s nastiness. “On one side of the aisle, applause. On the other, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi saying it all without actually uttering a single word.

As the segment was wrapping up, Muir teed up Vega to praise even more of Pelosi’s ridiculous hyperbole: “The President is calling on Republicans and Democrats to come together, to set politics aside, were his words last night, to protect the Dreamers. But today, Democrats not sounding happy with what they heard last night.

You saw Nancy Pelosi there, stone-faced,” Vega boasted. “Well, listen to what she said today about what the president does. Quote: “He brings tears to the eyes to the Statue of Liberty and instills fear in the hearts of people who are concerned about the Dreamers.

Vega signed off by continuing to play up the congressional Democrat hissy fit. “The White House may have been hoping, David, that speech would unite Congress, but those reviews from the Democrats are in: They are not onboard,” she chided.

In addition to fawning over Pelosi, Vega touted Democrats who actually booed the President when talking about immigration. “Democrats were hardly smiling when President Trump turned to immigration … His misleading claim about legal family migration then met with boos,” she said as she flashed pictures of pouting liberals and played a clip of the speech.

When Obama was shouted at during his 2009 address, there was nothing but outrage spewing from the liberal media. But now that the roles were reversed, they were all in on backing their fellow liberal resistance fighters.

The White House today saying that Pelosi should smile more often. CECILIA VEGA: Not known for bridging the divide, tonight, President Trump's push for bipartisan unity falling flat with Democrats.

(…)

VEGA: On one side of the aisle, applause. On the other, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi saying it all without actually uttering a single word. The White House Press Secretary today had some advice.

SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS: I think she should smile a lot more often. I think the country would be better for it.

VEGA: Democrats were hardly smiling when President Trump turned to immigration. The deadline to save the Dreamers fast approaching. President Trump's offer? In exchange for his border wall and tough new restrictions on legal immigration, a path to citizenship for nearly 2 million of those undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children. But that olive branch to Dreamers followed by this –

DONALD TRUMP: Americans are dreamers, too.

VEGA: His misleading claim about legal family migration then met with boos.

TRUMP: Under the current broken system, a single immigrant can bring in virtually unlimited numbers of distant relatives. [Boos] Under our plan, we focus on the immediate family by limiting sponsorships to spouses and minor children.

VEGA: Citizens and green card holders can petition to bring their relatives, but entry is not automatic or unlimited.

MUIR: Cecilia Vega with that fact check for us tonight. And Cecilia, the President is calling on Republicans and Democrats to come together, to set politics aside, were his words last night, to protect the Dreamers. But today, Democrats not sounding happy with what they heard last night.

VEGA: You saw Nancy Pelosi there, stone-faced. Well, listen to what she said today about what the president does. Quote: “He brings tears to the eyes to the Statue of Liberty and instills fear in the hearts of people who are concerned about the Dreamers.” The White House may have been hoping, David, that speech would unite Congress, but those reviews from the Democrats are in: They are not onboard.
