Robert DeNiro Rails Against Trump 'BS' on 'Life-Saving' Funding for NEA, NEH, NPR, and PBS

Actor Robert DeNiro has made no attempt to hide his contempt for President Donald Trump, often using interviews as a platform to rail against Trump.  Last Monday proved no different when he accepted a lifetime achievement award and decided to use his acceptance speech and take aim at President Trump’s proposed budget, which would cut funds to the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.  For the record, Trump’s budget did not become law, but that didn’t stop DeNiro from calling it “bullsh*t.”

“The budget proposal, among its other draconian cuts to life-saving and life-enhancing programs, eliminates the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting…For their own divisive political purposes, the administration suggests that the money for these all-inclusive programs goes to rich liberal elites…This is what they now call an ‘alternative fact… I call it what it is: bullsh*t.”

Liberals mock the military for saving lives…but somehow lives are saved by arts grants? By public radio or TV? If it's "all-inclusive," why do we end up funding anti-Christian outrages -- so bold, so courageous -- but nothing "Islamophobic"? But then, liberals believe the first mockery is "inclusive," and the second isn't.

But, as Breitbart’s Jerome Hudson writes, DeNiro neglected to give the whole story -- or the "alternative facts" --  which happens so often when it comes to liberals and politics: “Of course, De Niro failed to mention that the Congressional budget plan signed into law by the president this month retains funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and actually increases the budgets of both the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities by $2 million each.”

DeNiro went on to berate the Trump administration as “mean-spirited”:

"The administration's mean-spiritedness towards our art and entertainment is an expression of their mean-spirited attitude about people who want that art and entertainment…People who also want and deserve decent wages, a fair tax system, a safe environment, education for their children, and health care for all."

He also lamented that the namesake of his Lincoln Center award, Charlie Chaplin, was "an immigrant who probably wouldn't pass today's 'extreme vetting,'" adding, "I hope we're not keeping out the next Chaplin."

This isn’t the first time DeNiro has been outspoken against Trump.  Last October, DeNiro’s PSA for voter registration caused a stir when he said he wanted to “punch Trump in the face.” This past spring he said President Trump was a “mutt” had has “debased the presidency.”
