Deutsch: Michael Cohen Feels He's Now on 'Right Side,' Can 'Stick His Chest Out'

How do you get "on the right side of things" regarding President Trump? What permits a man to "stick his chest out?" In the view of the liberal media, and reportedly of Michael Cohen, it's really very simple: turn on Trump and give testimony potentially damaging to the President.

Beyond his ostensible expertise as a branding maven, Donny Deutsch's claim to fame is his apparent friendship with Michael Cohen.

On today's Morning Joe, Deutsch said that he had spoken "many times" with Cohen in recent days. Deutsch said that Cohen now feels that "he's on the right side of things," and "can stick his chest out." Why? Because he has now testified that his contacts with Russians regarding a possible Trump real estate deal did not end in January 2016, as he had previously said, but in fact extended until June 2016, a time after candidate Trump had already effectively secured the GOP presidential nomination.

Note: Deutsch is clearly pleased by Cohen's decision to turn on Trump. Back in April, we noted Deutsch imploring Cohen to do just that.

DONNY DEUTSCH: As far as Michael Cohen, and Emily [Jane Fox of Vanity Fair] knows this also, we've watched an arc of Michael Cohen, as you said, first: 'I will take a bullet for [Trump.]' So, so, so committed and loyal to this man. Obviously, we saw him arrested. We saw that turn with Michael Cohen.

I have never seen Michael, since this began, feel the way he's felt the last few days. I've spoken to him many times in the last few days. Where I think for the first time he really feels, look: he's still being found guilty of something. He's still probably going to serve some jail time, but he really feels he's on the right side of things. He really feels not only is he doing something for himself and his family, it is starting to feel, you know what? I'm on the right side of things. I'm not the bad guy, if you will. I'm not on that team any more. And on a very personal level, he feels like it's been he versus Trump. You know, he's left out by himself, hang out to dry, against the most powerful man in the world, against everything. And I think finally he feels he can stick his chest out.
