Nets Horrified By Trump Attacking Dems, Impeachment at Rally

October 11th, 2019 12:22 PM

On Friday, all three network morning shows seemed shocked that President Trump would spend time during a 2020 campaign rally Thursday night attacking Democrats over their impeachment push. Reporters were aghast that Trump would launch “vicious attacks on his Democratic rivals” and describe impeachment “in almost apocalyptic terms.”

“The President delivers vicious attacks on his Democratic rivals overnight, at his first rally since the start of the impeachment inquiry,” fill-in co-host Cecilia Vega bemoaned at the top of ABC’s Good Morning America. Introducing a report minutes later on Trump’s Minneapolis event, she fretted: “...the President holding his first rally since that inquiry began. His sharpest attacks and some vulgarities levied against his Democratic rival Joe Biden.”

A soundbite ran of the President telling supporters: “He was never considered a good senator. He was only a good vice president because he understood how to kiss Barack Obama’s [censored].” Vega claimed Trump’s rhetoric proved he was “feeling the heat” from the impeachment inquiry.

White House correspondent Jon Karl wailed:

Cecilia, it was quite a performance last night. The President spoke about this impeachment inquiry in almost apocalyptic terms, saying that Democrats and the radical left were trying to destroy American democracy. And he looked out at his supporters and said that what they were trying to do was, quote, “Erase your vote like it never existed.”

What exactly does Karl think is the end goal of impeachment? It’s to remove a president from office and therefore nullify the results of an election. That certainly sounds like undermining democracy.

The reporter then sneered: “And you played just one clip from the way he went after Joe Biden, but he went on and on in deeply personal ways, talking about Biden and his son, Hunter, using the kind of language that most people would not let their children use.”

Karl was further disgusted by Trump’s words for the Speaker of the House: “And regarding the Democratic leaders, he spoke about Nancy Pelosi, saying, quote, ‘She’s either really stupid or she has really lost it.’”

On CBS This Morning, correspondent Paula Reid decried: “At his first rally since the impeachment inquiry began, President Trump angrily railed against Democrats....And escalated his rhetoric against former Vice President Joe Biden.” Clips ran of Trump calling House Democrats “sick” for pursuing impeachment and hammering Biden.

After complaining about Trump “taking aim at Joe Biden with this profanity-laced swipe,” on NBC’s Today show, correspondent Peter Alexander eagerly touted the former Vice President’s response:

Biden, who alongside many of his Democratic colleagues participated in a LGBTQ town hall last evening, pushed back in a tweet. He writes, “I spent my night at the Human Rights Campaign Forum talking about the fundamental respect every human being deserves. You spent yours showing how little respect for anyone else you have. America is so much stronger than your weakness, Donald Trump.”

For as often as the liberal media denounce Trump’s rhetoric, they never seem to have a problem with the extreme language or tactics being employed by Democrats and even their own press colleagues. For example, in the summer of 2018, journalists spent days accusing the President of treason following the Helsinki summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin. Karl didn’t go on GMA and breathlessly condemn such rhetoric as “apocalyptic.”

Help fight against the liberal media's impeachment crusade

Here is a transcript of the October 11 report on ABC’s GMA:

7:09 AM ET

CECILIA VEGA: President Trump is using this impeachment to fire up his supporters. Overnight, the President holding his first rally since that inquiry began. His sharpest attacks and some vulgarities levied against his Democratic rival Joe Biden. Take a listen.

DONALD TRUMP: He was never considered a good senator. He was only a good vice president because he understood how to kiss Barack Obama’s [censored]. [Cheers and applause]

VEGA: Alright, so let’s bring in our chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl, there at the White House. And, Jon, polls show a majority of Americans now support impeachment. The President seems to be feeling the heat there.

JON KARL: Cecilia, it was quite a performance last night. The President spoke about this impeachment inquiry in almost apocalyptic terms, saying that Democrats and the radical left were trying to destroy American democracy. And he looked out at his supporters and said that what they were trying to do was, quote, “Erase your vote like it never existed.”

And you played just one clip from the way he went after Joe Biden, but he went on and on in deeply personal ways, talking about Biden and his son, Hunter, using the kind of language that most people would not let their children use.

And regarding the Democratic leaders, he spoke about Nancy Pelosi, saying, quote, “She’s either really stupid or she has really lost it.” So, again, this all coming, as you mentioned, polls are showing increasing public support for the impeachment inquiry.
