Nets Love Dems Predicting Trump Speech Full of ‘Malice and Misinformation’

On Tuesday, all three network morning shows were thrilled with Democratic Party talking points preemptively dismissing President Trump’s upcoming immigration speech as nothing but “malice and misinformation.” Reporters touted how liberal lawmakers were “demanding equal time” in the media to response to Trump’s prime-time address.

“In his first Oval Office address to the nation, President Trump set to make his case for a border wall as the government shutdown enters its 18th day. Democrats fighting back, saying the speech will be nothing but malice and misinformation,” co-host Hoda Kotb proclaimed at the top of NBC’s Today show.

Minutes later, correspondent Peter Alexander emphasized how “many are challenging the President’s credibility on the border issue after the White House has repeatedly misrepresented the facts.”

On ABC’s Good Morning America, co-host Robin Roberts shared the left’s concerns: “Democratic leaders, you can imagine, they want equal time, demanding equal time on TV tonight to respond to President Trump.” Senior Congressional Correspondent Mary Bruce declared: “Well, Democrats are clearly concerned about the nation only hearing one side of this argument and not getting the facts.”

Bolstering the assumption that Democrats were the ones presenting the “facts,” Bruce eagerly quoted a press release from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer: “They are demanding equal time tonight to respond, saying in a statement, quote, ‘If the President’s past statements are any indication, it will be full of malice and misinformation.’”

After CBS This Morning co-host John Dickerson highlighted Democrats “demanding equal air time to respond to the President’s speech,” correspondent Paula Reid announced: “Democrats have vowed to fight any attempts to bypass Congress with legal challenges. They also allege that if the President’s past statements are any indication, his address tonight will be full of, quote, ‘misinformation and malice.’”

Hours before the President has been able to utter a single word in his address to the nation, Democrats and the media have already decided to reject anything he might say. How can viewers possibly trust that news coverage of the speech will be objective?
