Morning Joe Panics Over Leadership Institute's Success Training Next Generation

November 3rd, 2022 5:41 PM

On Friday, October 28's edition of Morning Joe on MSNBC, author and New York Times & Politico Magazine contributor Kyle Spencer was brought on the show to whine and complain about how the conservative movement and more specifically the Leadership Institute are training an army of what Spencer describes as "foot soldiers for the right." She went on to panic that conservatives are now the ones who are "in touch with how people communicate and what is going on politically."

Spencer started off kvetching that young conservatives are focused on culture war issues. "These guys want to stay away from what are the Democrats really doing. They don't want to talk about Build Back Better, they don't want to talk about Dobbs, they don't want to talk about the environment. They want to stay on these lefty kids on your campus are dangerous, they’re lazy," Spencer added.

Continuing to whine about the priorities that young conservative activists around the country have, she cried about how they believe: "transgender folks want to take over, you know, culture war issues to stay away from actual issues which might get people really thinking about what Dems are doing for them."

Appearing concerned about this report on the beliefs and activities of some young conservatives, co-host Willie Geist asked who was behind their organization and activities. "Where are they looking for these young kids? Let's say, who is they? Who are the people doing all of this training?" Geist asked.

"There's an organization called the Leadership Institute, was started in the late 1960s, early 1970s. The Leadership Institute is basically creating foot soldiers for the right," Spencer replied with concern.

Detailing how active the Leadership Institute is and the vital role they play in the conservative movement, Spencer bemoaned:

The Leadership Institute raises $25 million a year to teach kids how to activate, how to door knock, granular stuff, what you should put on your pamphlet, what you should put on your sign, what color should you use on your sign, how when you go door knock, should you walk on someone's lawn, how you should convert people? So this is the type of stuff that kids are learning.

In what only comes as a shock to MSNBC and their leftist acolytes, Spencer disapprovingly revealed how "we're living in a very weird world now where the conservatives are the ones who seem to be very in touch with how people communicate and what is going on politically."

Because the Leadership Institute dared to adapt to current cultural or political issues, Spencer moaned how after the sexual and racial indoctrination of public school children became more of a prominent issue, the Leadership Institute started to "teach kids how to run for school board office and talk about all this CTR [sic] stuff."

"It is invasive and it is big and it is very organized," she bemoaned.

KYLE SPENCER: The issues that they try to focus on are really culture war issues. These guys want to stay away from what are the Democrats really doing. They don't want to talk about Build Back Better, they don't want to talk about Dobbs, they don't want to talk about the environment. They want to stay on these lefty kids on your campus are dangerous, they’re lazy. Biden is falling off his bicycle all the time. The Democrats are too old. Look at these homeless people, everything is chaotic and out of control. Transgender folks want to take over, you know, culture war issues to stay away from actual issues which might get people really thinking about what Dems are doing for them.

WILLIE GEIST: Kyle, you spent a lot of time reporting this out. Four years, you embedded with a lot of these groups, you really understand it. So where are they looking for these young kids? Let's say, who is they? Who are the people doing all of this training?

SPENCER: So the training has been built up for a long time. There's an organization called the Leadership Institute, was started in the late 1960s, early 1970s. The Leadership Institute is basically creating foot soldiers for the right. It is housed in a building outside of D.C. As you can imagine, we're living in a very weird world now where the conservatives are the one who seem to be very in touch with how people communicate and what is going on politically. And so what did the conservatives do immediately when they started seeing stuff happening on school boards? They started teaching kids, you know what? We're going to teach kids how to run for school board office and talk about all this CTR [sic] stuff. So it is -- and it is invasive and it is big and it is very organized.
