Name That Party: Daily Beast Omits Pa. Atty. Gen. Kathleen Kane's Dem Affiliation

The top law-enforcement officer in the Keystone State, Democrat Kathleen Kane, is in legal trouble for allegedly abusing the powers of her office. Yet in briefly noting the story in their Cheat Sheet digest on Thursday, the Daily Beast omitted any reference to her party affiliation:

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane has been charged with perjury and obstructing administration of law. According to the case brought by Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, Kane allegedly leaked confidential investigative information and secret grand jury information, “in hopes of embarrassing and harming former state prosecutors she believed, without evidence, made her look bad,” Ferman said. In a statement Thursday, Kane denied any wrongdoing and vowed to fight the charges; later, Gov. Tom Wolf called on her to resign. If convicted, she will be immediately removed from office.

In fairness to the Daily Beast, the publication did similarly omit the partisan affiliation of the Lone Star State's Republican AG, who was arrested earlier this week. Unlike Kane, Paxton's alleged criminal offenses do not have any connection to abuse of his office:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton surrendered to authorities Monday morning after a grand jury indictment last week charged him with fraud. Paxton faces two counts of first-degree securities fraud and one count of third-degree failure to register with the state securities board. The alleged incidents happened before he became attorney general in January. The arraignment is set to take place later this week.
