Nets Ignore Sanctuary City Denver Releasing Illegal Charged With Homicide [UPDATED]

March 13th, 2018 11:37 PM

Since last week, a number of Fox News shows have been following the case of an illegal immigrant in Denver, Ivan Zamarripa-Castaneda, who was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide after a deadly hit and run.

The city of Denver not only refused a request by ICE to detain the prisoner, but, after he posted bail, he was released before ICE was even notified so they could try to apprehend him at the court house.

Fox and Friends has repeatedly aired updates on the story, spending more than seven minutes on it across Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. And, as a number of other FNC shows have devoted time to the story, FNC's Special Report with Bret Baier gave it a full report on Friday evening and an update on Monday.

On Monday, after his release, Fox and Friends news reader Jillian Mele updated viewers:

ICE on the hunt right now for an illegal immigrant tied to this deadly crash after the sanctuary city of Denver let him walk free. Denver police releasing Ivan Zamarripa-Castaneda on $2,500 bond. The sheriff's office are saying they are issuing an internal review as to why officers released him nearly two hours before notifying the feds. He's facing vehicular homicide charges.

It has also been noted how shocking it is that the accused was allowed to leave jail after paying just $2,500 out of a $25,000 bail in spite of the case involving both hit and run, and vehicular homicide.

Even though President Donald Trump mentioned the development, being relevant to his current push against sanctuary cities, in his address to the nation on Sunday, a Nexis search shows no sign that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC or PBS have mentioned the developments.
