Anderson Falsely Implies Trump Only Saved Attractive Aides During Turkey Escape

August 13th, 2026 9:45 AM

Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host Anthony Anderson attacked President Trump on ABC for the second night in a row on Wednesday over his Secret Service-orchestrated escape from Turkey after July’s NATO summit. This time, the bright blue-suited Anderson and sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez falsely suggested that Trump decided to save “the hot one” and leave all of his other aides to their fate on the original aircraft.

Anderson began by introducing a clip of Trump talking about the operation while falsely shrinking the size of the vehicle that transported Trump between aircraft and giving the operation a condescending nickname, “So, I mentioned last night that Donald Trump escaped a threat from Iranian attackers by hiding in an airport catering cart also known as Operation Pig in a Blanket. Here's what the president had to say about it.”

It was a truck. Not a cart. As it was, the video showed Trump being asked by a reporter if he was worried about a shoulder-fired missile and responding, “I don't worry about anything, to be honest. Whatever it is, you know my attitude? Whatever.”

Anderson reacted by retorting, “Eh. Those were his wedding vows too: ‘Whatever.’”

He then switched to the others that went with Trump, “And this is interesting. Apparently, Trump took some of his advisers with him on the safe plane and left others on the plane that was maybe going to get hit by the Iranians. Now, I'm going to show you two Trump staffers. See if you can guess which one the president brought with him. Deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller or his executive assistant Natalie Harp? Guillermo? What do you think?”

Rodriguez answered, “The hot one,” to which Anderson replied, “Bingo!”

Anderson used the plural “advisers” in the lead up to his Miller-Harp choice, which indicates he knows that Harp was not the only one to go with Trump. Others included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Walt Nauta, and Dan Scavino, but Anderson didn’t mention them because the truth would have ruined the joke that sought to claim Trump only wanted to save “the hot one.”

Here is a transcript for the August 12 show:

ABC Jimmy Kimmel Live!

ANTHONY ANDERSON: So, I mentioned last night that Donald Trump escaped a threat from Iranian attackers by hiding in an airport catering cart also known as Operation Pig in a Blanket. Here's what the president had to say about it.

DONALD TRUMP: I have a lot of threats. I have a lot of threats that you don't know about. Any consequential president has a lot of threats. Non-consequential presidents don't get threats. And I think that I'm maybe the most consequential president.

REPORTER: Were you worried about a shoulder-fired missile?

TRUMP: I don't worry about anything, to be honest. Whatever it is, you know my attitude? "Whatever."

ANDERSON: Eh. Those were his wedding vows too: “Whatever.”

And this is interesting. Guillermo? What do you think?

GUILLERMO RODRIGUEZ: The hot one.

ANDERSON: Bingo!
