Daily Show Defends Bud Light: 'Having A Vagina Does Not Make You a Woman'

Each of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show temp hosts have used their time to talk about issues they care about and Desi Lydic was no exception, using Monday’s show to talk about the status of women in the workplace, but before she did that she undermined any point she would make when she defended Bud Light’s Dylan Mulvaney marketing campaign, “I am so sick of this ‘trans women are not real women.’ Having a vagina does not make you a woman.”

Lydic began the show by referencing the Bud Light-Mulvaney partnership, “and I just have to talk about it.”

She then proceeded to declare, “Okay, so last month, Bud Light did a social media campaign with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney and conservatives absolutely lost their shit over it. They were filming themselves shooting cans, running over cans, hitting cans with a baseball bat. It was like a Saw movie but starring Bud Light, but now their meltdown has even its own merch.”

Lydic then played a video from Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders that parodied Bud Light’s Real Men of Genius ads by focusing on “real women of politics” and fellow female GOP Govs. Kristi Noem, Kay Ivey, and Kim Reynolds.

The video ended with the narrator promoting “the real women of politics koozie. And if it covers up the label of a big woke company -- well, that works too.”

Lydic was stumped, “What the [bleep]? I mean, seriously, though, what the hell? Like, I'm sorry, but can you really imagine conservative men using this thing?”

She then had an alternative use for the koozie, “I mean, maybe as a pocket[bleep] but that's it! ‘Well, I'm out fishin' so this Kay Ivey fleshlight has got to get the job done!’"

After criticizing the ad including claiming one of the actress “was like, ‘Please tell me this is for porn, and not some weird Sarah Huckabee Sanders ad,’ Lydic got to her main argument, “And this should be obvious, but I am so sick of this "trans women are not real women." Having a vagina does not make you a woman. Having a crippling fear of using too many exclamation points in an email, that is what makes you a woman.”

Later in the show, Lydic would tell a group of young girls about “the mommy tax,” which means that having children will impact their ability to make as much money as men. However, “and this should be obvious,” only real women can get pregnant and give birth.

DESI LYDIC: Let’s kick things off with something I saw today and I just have to talk about it. Okay, so last month, Bud Light did a social media campaign with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney and conservatives absolutely lost their shit over it. They were filming themselves shooting cans, running over cans, hitting cans with a baseball bat. It was like a Saw movie but starring Bud Light, but now their meltdown has even its own merch.

BUD LIGHT “REAL MEN OF GENIUS” PARODY NARRATOR: America presents real women of politics.

FEMALE SINGER: Real women of politics. Real women don't have to fake it.

NARRATOR:  Real women. Doing real things.

FEMALE SINGER: Real women work too hard for this.

NARRATOR: Some big companies can't tell the difference between real and fake anymore.

FEMALE SINGER: Real people know the difference

NARRATOR: That's why we're introducing the real women of politics koozie. And if it covers up the label of a big woke company -- well, that works too.

FEMALE SINGER: Real women of politics.

LYDIC: What the [bleep]? I mean, seriously, though, what the hell? Like, I'm sorry, but can you really imagine conservative men using this thing? I mean, maybe as a pocket[bleep] but that's it! "Well, I'm out fishin' so this Kay Ivey fleshlight has got to get the job done!"

I never thought I would miss the old beer commercials. I mean, sure, there were a lot of boobs but at least they weren't like, "These boobs are biological boobs." This ad made no sense. Like, what was going on with that woman shoving a giant fish into a tiny box? Is that something real women do? It wasn't even near the sea. It was in a closet! What is a fish even doing in a closet? Even that actor had no idea what was going on. She was like, "Please tell me this is for porn, and not some weird Sarah Huckabee Sanders ad."

And this should be obvious, but I am so sick of this "trans women are not real women." Having a vagina does not make you a woman. Having a crippling fear of using too many exclamation points in an email, that is what makes you a woman.
