Samuel L. Jackson to Colbert: 'I'm Definitely Voting With The Resistance'

June 11th, 2019 11:06 AM

Rest assured, another left-leaning late night host and a liberal celebrity have weighed in on which Democrat is best to beat Donald Trump. During an appearance on The Late Show With Steven Colbert Monday night, Samuel L. Jackson and Colbert engaged in speculation over who will lead the Democratic Party ticket in 2020.

Colbert has been consistent in his shining coverage of Democratic candidates, hoping to persuade his viewers into voting for anyone except President Trump. Considering this fact, it must have come as a surprise when Jackson did not endorse any candidate currently in the running for the Democratic Primary. Colbert posed the question “Now, have you looked at the crop of challengers to the President? Is there anybody out there who really floats your boat?”

Without missing a beat, Jackson responded “I just haven't been inspired by what everybody's trying to do, say, prove, whatever. I kind of wish somebody as people-friendly in my mind as Stacey Abrams was running. I kind of wish that. But I'm definitely voting with the resistance, whatever happens. Let there be no doubt.”

Perhaps Jackson has forgotten that Abrams actually lost her 2018 gubernatorial bid in Georgia. That doesn’t exactly scream “people friendly” when it comes to voters.

STEVEN COLBERT: Unlike Brexit, we do get a redo.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON: Yeah.

COLBERT: Now, have you looked at the crop of challengers to the President? Is there anybody out there who really floats your boat?

JACKSON: Not yet.

COLBERT: Really?

JACKSON: I just haven't been inspired by what everybody's trying to do, say, prove, whatever. I kind of wish somebody as people-friendly in my mind as Stacey Abrams was running. I kind of wish that. But I'm definitely voting with the resistance, whatever happens. Let there be no doubt.

COLBERT: No doubt at all.
