Trevor Noah Mocks Queen's Gift to President Trump

June 4th, 2019 4:08 PM

The irony is lost on no one when a member of the media elite criticizes the intelligence of anyone outside of their liberal bubble. Especially when the person they are criticizing is President Trump, who has amassed a billion-dollar empire and graduated from the Ivy League Wharton Business School. One would presume it's impossible to accomplish so much success without ever picking up a book, however, this is precisely what Trevor Noah implied on The Daily Show Monday night.

In speaking about President Trump’s visit to Great Britain, Noah could not help but mock the Queen’s extremely thoughtful gift of a first edition Winston Churchill book called The Second World War. “That's right, the Queen's gift for Donald Trump was a book. Either she doesn't know Trump or she's trolling him. Why would you give Donald Trump a book? Everyone knows the man doesn't read!"

Many often wonder if members of the media have ever picked up a book themselves. Alas, it is apparent journalism today is less about thought-provoking stories and has more to do with whoever can hate on President Trump the loudest.

TREVOR NOAH: That's right, the Queen's gift for Donald Trump was a book. Either she doesn't know Trump or she's trolling him. Why would you give Donald Trump a book? Everyone knows the man doesn't read! I wish I was there when the Queen gave him his gift. Here you go, Donald, a book about World War II! He's, like, wow, this is sad. Yes, many lives were lost. No, I mean the fact that I have to read, it's so sad! For real, though, Donald Trump has no use for a book, it's a useless gift. It's like giving Stevie Wonder a fish tank. Now, I wouldn't be shocked if the Queen was actually trolling Donald Trump, right?
