National March for Marriage Catches Attention of MundoFox

The first major network news program to take notice of the National March for Marriage that will take place in the Nation’s Capital on Saturday was not on one of the English-language networks, but on Spanish-language MundoFox.

What apparently drew the attention of MundoFox to the event, which is being held three days before the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments to either uphold or strike down state marriage laws defining marriage as a male-female relationship, was the expected high-level of participation in the March by pro-traditional marriage Latinos.

Noticias MundoFox Washington correspondent José Díaz Briseño highlighted the expected outsized presence of pro-traditional marriage Latinos at the event.

“The largest contingent that is expected this weekend, in this march for traditional marriage, will be that of Latinos. They are coming in dozens of buses, from New York City, in order to arrive here in Washington, led by Reverend and State Senator Rubén Díaz,” noted the MundoFox correspondent.

The National March for Marriage’s Diego Von Stauffenberg told Díaz Briseño that “we are trying to create an opportunity for people to rise up and say ‘this is the truth about marriage’...and we are going to have a very large representation of the Latino community in this March.”

Díaz Briseño also included a quote from the pro-same sex marriage Human Rights Campaign, referencing how their cause understands it is benefitting from the gains it has made in public support.

Below are the translated and original portions of the referenced MundoFox segments:
