Telemundo Trashes Don Jr.'s 'Shameful' Support for Wall

For Telemundo and the rest of the liberal media, there is apparently only one way to interpret statements by Donald Trump, Jr. in support of his father’s policies: the worst possible way.

That was certainly the case following President Trump’s Oval Office speech on the need for building additional wall on the nation’s southern border. In a combination one-two anti-Trump punch, Telemundo anchor José Díaz-Balart blasted President Trump for “openly attacking immigrants” in the speech (because, according to the twisted logic constantly on display at Telemundo, opposing entrance into the country by MS-13 gang members and terrorists also qualifies as “attacking immigrants”).

In the same sentence, Díaz-Balart also blasted the President’s namesake son, for having posted on Instagram that “You know why you can enjoy a day at the zoo? Because walls work.” Despite the fact that Trump Jr.’s spokesman said the post was simply meant to illustrate the necessity of barriers for safety, Telemundo and the rest of the liberal media swarmed to the conclusion that Trump Jr. could only be comparing people who enter the country illegally to animals. Here's Diaz-Balart:

This speech from Trump openly attacking immigrants provoked condemnation from activists and politicians and, as if that were not enough, today his son compared immigrants to animals. Shameful.

Don Jr.’s referenced Instagram post was actually featured as the second most important headline of the day on the network’s national evening newscast, and merited a full hit job by NBC’s sister network for the U.S. Hispanic market.

The referenced transcript of the segment, as aired on the January 9, 2019 edition of Noticias Telemundo, appears below.

JOSÉ DÍAZ-BALART, ANCHOR, TELEMUNDO: And to add more wood to the fire, a racist message from Trump´s son in which he compares immigrants with animals. It has sparked massive outrage. Donald Trump Jr. wrote in Instagram, "You know why you can enjoy a day at the zoo? Because walls work.” The immigrant community’s repudiation of this xenophobic message was immediate and devastating.

JUAN JOSÉ GUTIÉRREZ, ACTIVIST, VAMOS UNIDOS: That the President's son compares us to wild beasts, to dangerous animals, well it is truly absurd. It insults our collective dignity, wounds our feelings as human beings. Almost, almost is a violation of our human rights.
